3 character training halps

So I got back to EVE and realized that I'd never get anywhere if I stuck to 1 character. So, I figured I'd throw some PLEXes into my account, but before I spend the money I want to know if what I'm planning is at least somewhat sensible. I want to fulfill some basic needs of mine:

1) I want a PvE income (Incursions primarily, missions when drama pops the last remaining mom)
2) I want to be able to haul more than a pittance (So freighter, JF, Orca)
3) I want to PvP
4) I want to fly capitals eventually (Dread/Carrier)
5) I don't want to permanently PLEX all 3 characters since it is a lot of money/isk for me.

I have my current main as a mission-runner training towards incursions. I have a second PLEXed character. That character was going to be a hauler, but I'm thinking of making it the cap pilot instead. I can't afford a capital or replacing it right now, but I should be able to once I've actually trained enough to effectively fly a cap in a year or whatever.

Since training for capitals takes ages and I can only have 3 characters on 1 account, I realized that perhaps having a character dedicated to hauling might not be that effective a use of the slot. So I came up with this:

1st pilot: Missions/Incursions/Hauling - Logi/Orca/Freighter/JF
2nd pilot: Capital ships - Carrier/Dread
3rd pilot: PvP subcaps - Whatever the corp I join flies the most

I'm thinking the 1st pilot can stop training in a year's time or so, provided nothing huge changes. Also not interested in WH-living, so I don't really need an exploration alt or the like. I have another account I can activate for future cyno alt needs, so that's also not a problem. :)

interesting note, the road to capitals also is a quick grab for freighters.

To me, this is organized all wrong. You don't want your three main pilots on 1 account. First it will cost you a crazy amount of monies(Hint, subscription can be bought in bulk for less if you are not making the isk at the time to PLEX an account).

You should separate these into two accounts. The Power of 2 offer going on right now is more bang for your buck than any other offer around, you should have a 10m SP character for about 50 bucks or 3 PLEX. Second, like the post above me said, there are things that you can combine easily in the list you have.

A good carrier/dread pilot is easily a freighter and JF toon as well. An incursion runner can PvP just fine if you happen to choose the right direction for your training. Also, let's say you are smart and get in with a good incursion group, you can dual box your accounts for twice the money you would make otherwise, therefore making it easier for you to afford to continue to PLEX both accounts. The remaining slots should be filled with things like a cyno alt or two, or a scanning alt, etc. as approprate. (i.e. you don't want a cyno alt on the same account as your main cap pilot, that's dumb)

So that's my advice, Power of 2 and start learning that Eve is a game of multiple accounts. When you hit your 5th or 6th active account you'll start understanding just how easy the game gets.

I didn't realize you were talking about 1 account until I read Jorans post.
He is 100% right imo. If your going to plex 3 mains, do it on 3 accounts.

You have a good approach, more or less.
1 pilot for missions, Incursions, etc. here's the thing about missions: They give faction standings, 'liked by', and 'disliked by'. So at some point, you can't PvP in some space easily.

1 pilot for Caps is a good idea. You can specialize, and caps take a long time to perfect.

1 pilot for subcap PvP is also awesome to have. Maybe stick to one race of ships and guns, or one weapons group (Mediums for instance) or one hull class. The possibilities are endless. Eventually you will train all races and be a subcap king!

The guys are right about caps and jump freighters. The nav skills blend the two nicely. Though, in my experience, my caps were null sec based, and my freighter hauling is all empire. I don't own a JF, so I haul a lot with my carrier.

But again, my main point in this post is: Use multiple accounts. 1 account will cost the same but your ability to duel box will be ruined. It's a huge dis-advantage.

One account can work fine but you need to adjust what they are for.

Have a main that focuses on combat. Both for PvE and Caps. Many of the skills cross over.

Use the alts for: Cyno's (( Trade favors to help get your own caps moved )), more science, more PI, neutral hauling.

You only have to pay/plex one account long term.

i don't see the need for a dedicated logistic pilot unless you plan on supplying a hub in low/null sec. There are enough cheap public hauling services out there to make it almost useless to train for a freighter. Keep in mind that a carrier pilot will be able to move your ships around, a JF is only useful to move modules and random non-ship thingy.

Incursions have a high SP entry barrier so i suggest you train a market alt that will be able to fund all your accounts without the need of a lot of training.

I would organize my accounts as follow :

n1 account : 1 market dude, 2 cyno alt
n2 account : pvp sub cap and another market dude on another hub
n3 account : capital pilot, and 1 cyno (not useful for you but for you corp/alliance) and 1 market alt.
