Caldari Dickstar C3 - need advice

Hi,

I have a Large Caldari Tower in a C3.

At the moment it has:

16x ECM(4 each faction)
resi: EM:57% KIN:57% EXP:57% THE:62%
some basic utility: corp hangar, personal hangar, 1 lab, ammo array...
I've got about 400.000PG left and tons of CPU atm.

This tower is just a temporary outpost and the setup is going to be changed and split in to two towers.
But just for now i would like to add a bit more defenses.

I would like to add some guns to it but i have no idea which one to choose?

In few posts people claimed that cruise missiles and torpedoes are no go, why?

If you did almost any research you will see that torpedoes and cruise missiles shut off once the tower is reinforced. You also NEED guns, otherwise your tower can very easily be attacked by...perhaps 7 tengus as an example. They are fairly hard to ECM out so the 4 you have (while they probably will be out most the time) will take out 4 tengus, but the other 3 would only occasionally be taken out. Another thing is warp scramblers and neuts, you should get some on your tower.

pos defense mods are relatively cheap. Bring in a lot of extra ones of every type and store them in your hangar.

Then you can creatively online/offline them depending on what you're being attacked by, provided you're online at the time of the attack. Damps work wonders against stuff that tries to incap guns from long range, and if you have a gunner online, a single neut battery can be devastating when appropriately targeted.

If no one is online defending then its very easy for your attackers to outsmart your pos or bring things that counter the defensive setup, or to quickly primary those mods that are the greatest threat.

Personally, I use a minmatar tower, has enough CPU to run one line of polymer reactions, while still having a good set of defenses online.

Since I Iive in a C5, I have almost entirely large guns onlined, with 3 neuts, 2 Shadow webs (-97.5% Velocity modifier), a few points, and some White Noise ECM because it's wormholes so the only logi will be guardians in my Wolf Rayet.

Just to give an example for how great cruise missiles are:

> find a reaper named 'sacrifice to bob' outside a POS
> notice cruise missiles
> assemble venture
> fit a 125mm AC to the venture
> warp venture to the POS, slowly chew through the reapers tank - tank posguns by orbiting the reaper at 500m
> warp off cause venture

I dont think that relying purely on dickstar is smart idea in days of ECM immune bastion mode.

mobile warp disruptors will also defeat a dickstar, so id advise agasint them. Anyone that wants to take out your tower will be able to do so with much more ease than they would one with guns. All you gota do is make the ECM batteries stop shooting ships and they become useless.

Let me weigh in with some advice.

ECM is good, but its nothing a dedicated siege fleet can't burn through with sentries (immune to ecm)

Anchor lots of small and medium guns (more than you can have online) autocannons and arty ate best imo.

Neuts are also good.

However, at the end of the day any dedicated group can take it apart unless you have pos gunners and a fleet to support it

Bear in mind Marauders are ewar immune ecm sucks a bit now so loads of guns and neuts, als webs to slow inty's and more offline guns oh and don't forget guns I use all projectiles and lasers personally

Also have more stuff anchored than you have online. When someone incaps one module, bring another one online. This is most useful when trying to hold out against an assault while waiting for help to log in.

Thank you for all the info!

I will leave Caldari Tower as my research/production tower, with ecm and some neuts, guns, and move all other stuff to Minmatar one and install lots of guns on it.

Is it OK to stick mostly with Small/Medium AutoCannons?

What about artillery guns, worth keeping them online or is it better to keep few offline?

For a c3, you'll most likely be sieged by battleships of some sort, so prepare accordingly and anchor loads of large autocannons. Together with faction webs (they really are cheap), this becomes rather devestating. Else, small/med artillery and large ACs is where the power is at.

A dickstar would be more in the range of 10-15 ecm mods of each racial type on the tower. Put up 4-5 small pulse lasers for blapping hostile logi and you're golden.
