After reading this thread the "little bug" of exploration bit me so i decide to get a do all kind of ship but only for HS exploration.

So, this is certainly not a 0.0 nina ship, but it might help the minmatar buddie to come up with some ideas i hope.

[Muninn, Exploration - Blood Raiders]
Thermic Plating II
Damage Control II
800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Gyrostabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II

10MN MicroWarpdrive II
Analyzer I
Codebreaker I

650mm Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M
650mm Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M
650mm Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M
650mm Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M
650mm Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M
Sisters Core Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe I
Salvager I

Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I
Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I

Acolyte II x5

Basically u could take a salvager or a turret for a cloak, and take the plate for some more resists so that the HAC could become more agile for the mwd-trick.

Also the rigs could be swapped depends on your scan skills.

Actually i havent even flown it, cause ive recently finished setting it up. But i took some spins on Hurricane with a similar fitting and it seemed good.

Excellent guide, HE.

For anyone willing to splash out an extra 50-60m on the OP's original fit, switch the hardeners for Shadow Serp equivalents which free up about 50 CPU and add a touch more kinetic resist. You can then drop the co-pro and add a DCU/ODI - or even better, a CPR and switch a Cap Recharger in the mids for an Analyzer. That gets you all four utilities needed to become a true all-in-one exploration platform. You can do this with Drones Rigging 4, or 3 with a cheap KMB implant.

Shadow Serp hardeners are two a penny, and you'll probably make that isk investment back in 2 mag sites.

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

updated the Ishtar fit to include shadow serp hardeners, easily fits an analyzer now! now the only question is, is the salvager in highs worth it for mag sites? for the big bucks.

I keep forgetting to ask. I see the fit is with proto cloak, not with improved cloak II. But I though its 500% speed bonus of MWD and 75% penalty of imp. cloak II that allows MWD+cloak trick. You should need a lot more time after decloak to accelerate to warp speed with proto???

Second. Considering the price of Ishtar, plus Sisters launcher most people would be using. I see your ShSerp. energized and raise you either TrueSansha/DarkBlood ones (have better resists for still tiny price) or even c-type energizeds (should be still 5-10M each)

proto cloak is more than enough for the Ishtar to warp before decloak completes. and it's essential to use active armour hardeners, not passives

Hungry Eyes, you might wanna check your original post of the Ishtar fitting.
Because(this might be just me) your fit only has 4 low slots. I think it's been that way since
you updated the fit with the Shadow Serpentis Hardeners.

Also: Been testing the fit out in Syndicate on SiSi, because I finally have all the skills to fly it right.
Works like a charm so far.

I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I prefer posting with my main.

First off, a big thanks to Hungry Eyes for making the OP. For the last few months I’ve been having a great time doing this, and I started because of the OP.

Anyway, I tried to do a “Serpentis Prison Camp” the other night, which is a DED 8/10, in the recommended fit, and got blown up in the fourth room. I believe my hardeners and repper were on hehe.

The first three rooms were no big deal, and I read about the stasis towers in the fourth room, and planned to shoot them first, but when I warped into the fourth room, I quickly had the expected four webs on me, plus a few more from the frigs, plus at least four scrams from the frigs, and I melted before I could kill the scrammers.

Has anyone run this site in the recommended fit?

Webs can be deadly to a ship like the ishtar that partly relies on signature/speed tanking. Single rep will even struggle a bit in ded 5/10s until you kill the web towers.

Your best bet i guess might be to get a dedicated one with dual reps for this complex. It can tank really much without even moving. Or try a shield fit, because it has more buffer. You will lose out on the utility mods tho and it won't serve as an all-in-one platform anymore, but it might be worth a shot to invest in a 2nd version.

Yep, thanks to Hungry Eyes, this thread has been great inspiration :)

I've been tweaking the Ishtar to my tastes, and now after ventures into Guristas, Serpentis and Sansha space I dare to post my "lite" version:

[Ishtar, Nullinja]

Heavy Electron Blaster II, Void M
Core Probe Launcher I /OFFLINE
Heavy Electron Blaster II, Void M
Prototype Cloaking Device I
Heavy Electron Blaster II, Void M

10MN Afterburner II
Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Cap Recharger II

Damage Control II
Centii A-Type Adaptive Nano Plating
Dark Blood Armor EM Hardener
Dark Blood Armor Thermic Hardener
Domination Medium Armor Repairer

Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I

Hobgoblin II x5
Garde II x1
Hornet EC-300 x5
Curator II x5
Garde II x5

735dps (538 from Gardes) / 257dps tank, against Sanshas this time.

Few notes: I live in wspace, and access null via backdoor. This relieves me from the MWD and ensures access to cap boosters, but cloak is still handy. Can be swapped for a salvager for mag sites. There is some spare CPU, so a normal T2 repper will fit, and would rep more- I'm training for the T2 Omnis and want to keep room for them. Domination repper uses less cap and can handle the sites no problem.

Great ship, all I can say.

The Ishtar works fine for this kind of things, the Muninn is also good if you fit it with 5 arties, 1 cloak and 1 probe launcher

Also its much safer to go back to empire by WH rather than usual 0.0 jumps. You will very likely find a C4-C6 connecting to your null sec location, then 2 or 3 wh later you will be in empire . Its worth noting that if you go via WH, you can go back very quickly if you need to , once you know where are the connecting hole.

Pretty much this. I've been flying the Ishtar in Caldari Low Sec, and I gotta say...the DPS is overwhelming!
Even before the stasis web towers get ahold of you, the rats just slowly bleed through your tank.

Maybe I'm targeting the wrong rats first. I try to go for the BS's first, but in hindsight, I think the cruisers probably get better applied to a small sig like the Ishtar. The Wardens just don't get enough DPS out of the way before your tank breaks.

So I'm asking for a little input from people who know better. When you're in a high dps situation, what do you pop first? The frigs? The cruisers? The battlecruisers? Battleships? Sentry Towers/Missile Towers? Stasis Web towers first right?

On a side note, first 5/10 I ran (with plenty of warp outs and too many lost Warden IIs to be proud of) dropped a Gila BPC and B-Type Deflection Amplifier! So this ship is payed for.

I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I prefer posting with my main.

Save the battleships for last, they don't hurt much - it's large amounts of frigs/destroyers and cruisers/battlecruisers that hurt you the most and where you should focus first. Well and the stasis towers of course, they are top priority.

I hope you were not using a microwarpdrive.

Great write-up!

I would like to add that a good way for newbies to train for this before they do the real thing in 0,0 is in low-sec using an assault frigate, going for RADAR and MAG sites. Not as spectacular loot as the plexes, but its not hard to earn enough from the 'frisbees' and T2 salvage to cover losts ships.

The Hawk is an excellent ship for this.

But Ishkur is far superior - you can keep working on the cans while the lovely drones zoom around and erase red crosses from your overview on their own.

I thought i would add a few things to the discussion.

First up this is a one of the best threads ive seen so far on these forums +1 to the OP

next up. For a long time people have been looking for a Deep incursion explorer ship that can stay for extended periods of time.

What you need is DPS that does not run out which inhibits anything that is not drone or laser based. Although tech 2/faction ammo runs out you can carry an awful lot of it and it can last you for weeks/months before you need anymore. I bought 10 of each imperial large and was still using it 3 months later. Lastly without a dedicated bonused probing ship. it can be hard to scan down anything substantial even with a set of sisters.

Ships

For me it has to be either a T3 or a faction ship as these normally have the extra highslots you need for a cloak and a probe launcher. Although there are others you can use :)

The tengu is the best ship for not dying when travelling but it has two weaknesses

1. It requires missiles which will be used up very quicly
2. Nullsec mods gimp the DPS into the ground

The Pilgrim

This ship is outstanding and ive taken it all over lowsec and nullsec. The only real problem is the DPS. It takes a long time to get through a wall of elite cruisers and Battleships due to the low DPS but you can kill overseers as they rep less the further you get away from them. Once you are over 65k you can kill them with 5 Hammers. ALWAYS FIT A SINGLE GUN TO GET AGRO or you have to fly in close to them and that can be death.

The Ishtar

This is a great ship and well worth it for this role. you only use your gun ammo for special occasions and then you dont run out.

Legion

A nullsec Explorer Legion is just broken you have terrible dps and you have no lows. this one really needs addressing.

Phantasm

This ship is also viable in nullsec as it has the extra two slots plus it does 575 DPS with everything maxed and imperial navy multis. More likely will be about 470 with scorch. The massive down side is that you have no range. Im still playing with ETF and then it will be onto sisi to get some results.

Nightmare

If you are truly Brave and have isk to spare then a Nightmare is the way to go. It can glide through just about anything pve in nullsec but you would have to fly like a Boss to avoid losing it
