EHP for Ghost sites?

As the subject says, how much eHP is needed to survive the explosions, on average, and is it explosive damage? I think I remember reading that it was pure explosive damage, but just want to be sure.

Edit: The Stratios seems to be the best tool for the job since it is the only cruiser sized exploration ship. What would be a good fit for then sole purpose of running these sites?

It is explosive damage. With the Stratios in high sec you will be fine with one explosive hardener and one 1600 plate. For null sec use two of each and you'll be fine from the rats/cans. Fill the rest with drone damage/tracking mods, a mwd, maybe some scanning mods, You have lots of flexibility with fitting your mids.

Use a cargo scanner, hack the best can, jump out.

You might be able to get two cans if you're really quick but mostly you will only get one can before they all explode.

t3 cruiser is a cheaper and better ghost site finder/runner

Thank you for the information, that is what I had assumed, but wanted some confirmation. I'll be spending the majority of my time in null, so double plates and hardeners it is!

I'm little ways out from a strat cruiser otherwise I'd love to go that route. All the support skills save for subsystems are 4s and 5s, but I don't have level 5 in any racial cruiser, they're all at 4 presently.

for doing ghost sites you either want a ship that can go and do one when you occasionally find them.

Or you want a dedicated ship that travel hundreds of jumps specifically to find one and do it efficiently. 3x warp speed rigs are required for this.

quick cloak reactivation and interdiction nullfier make the t3 unrivaled in the second role. Stratios could also work but you would need to stick to lowsec instead of deep null, which causes all kinds of problems. Having a t2 analyzing mod is also pretty important, and a cargo scanner is vital.

I'd definitely like to hop in a strat cruiser to do these sites, I'm actually sitting on a Legion hull, I'm just training some other stuff at the moment that should be finished in a few weeks. I guess I could just wait, I'm eager to go run these sites though and my Buzzard just isn't going to cut it.

Has anyone figured out the amount of damage you take from the explosions in wormholes? Also what type of rats you face there. Yet to find a wormhole ghost site on either TQ or Sisi.

Some people in my alliance have been saying they do 80,000 thermal damage - not explosive. I'm wondering now if they are trying to make shiny ships explode...

Can someone confirm the damage type?

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

80,000 seems really off... That would pop a battleship that doesn't have a huge buffer.

I can't really confirm. You'd have to try a few different resistance profiles, then eat the same damage a few different times, then solve a system of linear equations.

However, when I did these sites, I didn't tank my tengu for explo, I put a giant ass buffer on it with 2 invulns. If I measured the damage I took, then made the assumption that the damage was pure thermal, I could see how one might come up at 80,000. There's pretty much no way they would make it actually do that much damage, everything I've seen has been consistent with the explosions doing 10-15k pure explosive damage. But again, without trying multiple resistance profiles and doing math, I can't tell you for sure that it isn't split damage types.

Ghost sites are easy to run with covops, because usually only 1 can has the good stuff. Cargo scan it,
take the loot and run before the trigger goes on. If you are fast you can do 2 cans.
Working as intended.

Walk into the club like "What up? I got a big cockpit!"

Legion is best imo. Cans do up to 12k explosive damage iirc.
