Its important to honor ransoms so that your victim will pay the ransom of the next guy as well, that's just common courtesy.

What is this "common courtesy" you speak of?

In a game where piracy and scamming are legit career paths, no one can be trusted.

Just because I would keep my word doesn't mean I would trust any one else to keep theirs.

Who tried to siege the mighty Federal Navy Academy this time?

Those no good Gallente scum! We of the School of Applied Knowledge fully support and/or endorse the siege of the Federal Navy Academy.

I think it more as who-what-where-when-opportunity and fully paying the ransom when offered...

.EC.. of [TOHA], Industrialists with guns. We're overe there, some where and no where... Contacting go through ingame convo's .EC.. and [TOHA] are recruiting, get in contact with us

tbh, I think it counts for more than in k-space

people in w-space tend to form tighter communities, because they have to rely on each other much more than in say, hisec, or even nullsec. By forming tighter communities, the way you interact with the game and other players is fundamentally changed, as who you are and what you do affects your buddies way more than in other areas of space.

That being said, it's up to every single WH entity to decide whether they will respect eve-bushido or not. Either choice has benefits and drawbacks.

That being said, people often get a reputation for being trustworthy. I would trust some entities fully, while others I would not even think about trusting, due to the fact they would sell their own mothers just to get a t1 frigate kill.

I’m the CEO of a very small wormhole corp.

The way I address the issue is all in the wording. I say “We Keep our word once and if it’s given”. I require my guys to do the same. If my guys or myself break their words out of just being an idiot ( most common reason) or forgot they gave it (also legit). I require them to make restitution.

Example: We ransom a pod after a fight with the demand of a Hiaku in 30 seconds or less. Hiaku is provided and someone still pops them, ISK will be sent to the victim in the value of that pod.

Now, EVE is a sandbox and everyone will have their own interpretations on game play. We do our best to not impose this element of game play style on others. If other people break their words to us, so be it. We do not hold them to some standard of play they don’t wish to subscribe to. We simply take it as lesion learned and know for future reference that those guys don’t play like us, removing future opportunities off the table. No harm no foul.

In my opinion there are equal value to not keeping your word and keeping it. Neither one is or ever will be the correct way to play, that’s what makes the game so interesting.

Trust is far more valuable in w-space, I think that's why we court it so much more than the other 95%.

Keeping your word is sometimes difficult (NO - LEAVE THE PODS FFS) but that's why it means something, no?

This is Eve, scamming is cheap ;)

Well, if you have that cheddar ****, then popcorn will trump,

otherwise, pretzels are the classy meta-snack for our community.

Wetzel's or Aunt Anne's and some good Scotch.

one time we told a guy in w-space local that we had a carrier tackled in the hole next door and needed help killing it. turns out it was Hard Knock's wormhole and there was no carrier.

i think that counts.

Holding your word is a god send for both sides and in the end, feels good man. 1v1 at the sun in uneven situations and both get their joy out of it while still killing something. (poor blue balled pvp'ers from farmers)

As part of a corp who has burned down someone's WH because they failed to honor a pod ransom that one of our members paid... I'd say keeping your word is the smart thing to do.
