Hopefully, when they do something useful with Dust that has a real impact on EVE.

1.7 is in the right direction

edit: also , already some major fw fights have been won by caldari only to see that the groundtroops of gallente took system back, so yeah already there is a nice inpact.

The police horse is the only animal in the world that haz his male genitals on his back

Real Impact (Much as I appreciate the FW effect and want to get involved in FW myself) would be things like....

PI becoming district based and slot based using the same mechanic they use to design dust maps. Also PG/CPU/Fitting per district based on the basic district model you choose, with PI skills upgrading your fitting options.

Then mini 'incursions' which take part both in space and on the ground, so you need dust players to defend your PI over multiple battles as well as having to fight in space or the pirate side gets lots of orbital strikes to use if you let their ships survive. (Obviously some form of notification to the player of an 'incoming attack' and the NPC's would have to spawn the warp beacon like players do also.) You can have buildings that help defend (Including Orbital cannons to shoot the NPC's in space even if you aren't there) to give the defending players bonuses also. Losing vs Pirates would only result in a raid + some damage, or maybe loss of a few 'modules' (I.E. individual buildings but not the entire structure)

Obviously PI would have to become player corp based at this point as there is limited space, so when you have a War Dec running you would also have the option to sponsor attacks on someones PI holdings at which point if your side won you would either take it over or destroy it.

Then we add in planet based infrastructure that affects the entire system in low & null systems that dust battles can be fought over. These can either be directly started by a dust corp choosing to attack the system (Including selecting FW system battles & sov battles in appropriate systems) or an EVE corp putting up a contract that can either be taken up by a specific dust corp or if no dust corp claims it will be fought as random battles.

At this point, we have Dust & EVE both having a major impact on each other. Not the current minor impact on a single area we have currently.

Dust is coded to run on power pc cell processors, part of the reason I assume they aren't planning a PlayStation 4 launch is because of this.

Dust is implemented using Unreal Engine 3

So it's more down to what engine they use than what CPU architecture they are coding for.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
