It was actually a good movie, what are you talking about.

I hold the movie to be evidence of its suckiness, if you can supply anything that supports the theory that it has "good", Ill happily peer-review your findings

It's a good movie, just not in the way you define 'good'. But it wasn't meant to be good in the way you're defining it, it was meant to be an enjoyable action flick. Not necessarily believable, not necessarily a "you gotta' see it" type of movie, just a fun and somewhat predictable movie.

Oh, and here's the findings...user ratings 7.2 isn't bad for imdb.

Since this became an IMDB message board all of a sudden, I'll chime in...

The movie sucked. It was SO BAD. But the special effects were great.
A large number of people ended up liking it.

The only conclusion I draw is this: If you liked the movie, you're one of those people easily amused by big flashy lights and explosions. You probably liked Transformers, Fast & Furious, etc. If you disliked the movie, you were probably searching for good plot and acting content, and didn't find any.

What, we can't like it because it's an homage to every super robot show and every giant monster movie ever made?

Cause that's why I like it. Also, it's, well, fun!

Because EVE is not Neon Genesis Evangelion ... or Transformers ... or Spaceballs ... or whichever sci-fi theme you want to see in it.

It was fun. Do you expect your escapist silver-screen fiction to be a treatise on the human condition?

No I expect it to avoid dervative boring repetition that other things have done better and better characters than cookie-cutter all American ding-dangs from a director of that calibre

Not to mention more interesting designs for the robots

It actually made Cloverfield look competant.

Still, it wasnt Iron Sky. It did have that going for it.

Cloverfield was a good movie, and so was Pacific Rim.

I have spoken.

End of line...

The great and powerful MCP has spoken. Death to the users.
