Seems the bigger corps can have lots of fun with POCOs. We little guys, not so much. Sad

I didn't think it would bother me but ... it sticks in my craw that 0-sec corps have taken over h-sec POCOs. I haven't done any PI since Rubicon.

I can't wardec the pirate corps ... but just as in 0-sec it should at least be open season on the ships which use them. Have the ships blink yellow on a pick-up (works for low-sec, too). Non-resident POCO owners shouldn't get it this easy; maybe a little active effort defending their customers is in order.

Which is about 20% of the reason why they did it in the first place.

I too find it appaling that these null sec bullies have come to high sec to lower our taxes.......

to lower our taxes.........

I'm about as little-guy as it gets when it comes to my industrial alts. I managed to secure my entire PI planet chain with my own POCOs. By myself.

POCOs are about the easiest struct to bash. Grab your alts, toss them in Oracles, and go sit for a few hours. Think of it like this...it's just like asteroid mining. Set your target then go alt-tab into netflix.

No big deal. Still PLENTY of Interbus customs offices out there, off the beaten path. Find what you need, pop the NPC office, build you own. Escape from the oppression of those evil people offering lower tax rates than the NPC defaults!

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

You're mistaking a personal problem for a gameplay problem.

If you don't like someone having a poco somewhere, just wardec them and destroy it. If you can't do that, then obviously they deserve to keep their poco.

I think the real question is...

Why are you doing PI in high sec?

It hardly makes any money even without the taxes.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

Low sec and 0.0 is full of bad men who want to kill you, don't you know that? Lol

Standings.

HTFU and get used to them.

Lowsec has been running PI with a mix of local entities and 0.0 forces occupying the planets. There, protection means as much as not getting your face blown off at first sight. There are little mechanics in hisec that endanger you in the first place, so positive standings with local entities in hisec only imply they will not wardec or gank you. There is little to protect you from, as wardecs are a wholly seperate matter in which the POCO owner isn't involved (per sé).

The customs offices are not there to protect customers. They merely make export easier, and for that comfort a customer pays the import/export tax. The relationship between owner and customer is such, that the owner will not agress the client (doing so is counterproductive) and the client understands he is not protected directly, but that this particular area of space is somewhat safer due to blue presence. Also, the actual tax amount can be regulated by standings.

Strong PVP corps act as the protection buffer for hisec industrialists without these capabilities. You are not going to tell me a PVP corp that owns some hisec POCO's would pass up the tax ISK for a few guys doing planetary conversion. Especially not if the guys in question are seeding the local market with the PVP stuff they need, at reasonable prices. It just makes plain sense to co-operate with people that play outside your own field of expertise.

A point of concern is indeed the (possibly) escalating costs of wardecs, as it's more likely a large group will take one from a small group. On the other hand hisec's risk-free ISK-generating environment should allow indies and specialized mission runners to cover the cost of hiring a merc group, or more likely the assistance of a PVP group that can place a new one and is willing to set standings, making the responsibility of defense fall entirely on the PVP group. But it will take a few months before any of this tinfoil can actually be supported by any data, curious to see how it will pan out.

Why not? Is it only because you're upset that enterprising people have been enterprising?

That doesn't make any sense. Why should highsec be turned into null just because people are setting up ship around planets to earn a bit of cash?

It's only easy because you make it easy; it is your job to ensure that they have to put some effort into defending their assets. If you can't be arsed with it, why should anyone else, and why should game mechanics be altered to do you job?

My point was that low sec and 0.0 is actually mostly safe, but people being people tend to be risk averse. As one of the largest PI slumlords in highsec, RvB is very grateful for that .

It's literally threads like these that I use to justify maintaining my sub. Thankyou indignant publord OP, I truly do appreciate what you do for us.

EVERY MORNING I WAKE UP AND OPEN PALM SLAM A VHS INTO THE SLOT. IT'S CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK AND RIGHT THEN AND THERE I START DOING THE MOVES ALONGSIDE THE MAIN CHARACTER, RIDDICK. I DO EVERY MOVE AND I DO EVERY MOVE HARD. MAKIN' WHOOSHING SOUNDS WHEN I SLAM DOWN SOME NECRO BASTARDS. NOT MANY CAN SAY THEY ESCAPED THE GALAXY'S MOST DANGEROUS PRISON. I CAN.

So... not gameplay? Seriously man, your justification is weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak. Blink

Also can somebody clarify what a "pubbie" actually is? There's about 4783476846^x+10 definitions of it on these forums.

All the cool kids are doing it these days!

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

What a pubbie question to ask.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.
