Gravity plating be damned, if you want a serious contender for life in the outback you go low-tech and use millenia old tried and true artificial gravity!

Despite my overall tendency to draw stuff symmetrical and streamlined, i really like designs that deviate from both principles, simply because they are different from the monotony.

The CCP designs for SOE ships are built around a certain theme - that being the old school sci-fi designs. Awesome in different ways, than what most people are used to today, but awesome non the less. What you are trying to do with your retouches is to streamline it. And while it might look better at first, after looking at your versions for a bit, i started thinking "well, they look just like every other ship we have, nothing special, nothing drastically distinct.

You know, sometimes a small difference could differentiate between OK and really memorable design - take the Volkswagen beetle and its headlights - have you seen how it was originally supposed to look?

If you take the tower off and the ring off extend the drone bays out like wings, put the drone launch openings at the front and back of those wings it'll kinda look like this

The remove ring and back ring versions are both awesome

I hope CCP reads this and changes the design. The current concept is lacking.

It doesn't really matter at this point. The new Nestor is uninspired, unoriginal and bland (I'm referring to the recently released stats, not necessarily the design).

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Exactly. Back ring all the way. Or back to drawing table for CCP...Big smile. The CCP concept is not bad it's just it does not look like a battleship at all. More like a civilian transport or science vessle... I mean it is SoE but it's a SoE BS and not a medical ship...
Besides it does not correspond with astero o stratios at all...

Personally, I prefer the Half Ring Version... the half-ring looks more like the kind of thing that'd be appropriate up front, as opposed to the weird forward-facing engine look the full ring gives.

That said, the back ring is definitely worse; a ring AND the vertical wings like that are just too much, especially with how they line up; that version looks cluttered and ugly to me (and the no-ring is just boring and generic).

So if we start with this as the starting point i think what CCP should do is:

1. The ring around the big plain looking bulbous thing on the front should be moved to the joint in the middle of the ship, just in front of the radar system.

2. The plain looking bulbous thing on the front should be shorter, more angular and more detailed.

3. The "covered solar panels" should increase in size to make the ship look wider in the middle.

4. The fins on the back should be removed.

The wishlist is pretty much complete...

I think the original design is confusing of which is the front and which is the back end. Either of the redesigns from the original post look better. Having the ring at the back along with the fins looks pretty good, and lends towards the same design as the Stratios/Astero.

I would have to agree with the back ring. The hull of the ship is spectacular, but the ring needs to be moved back near the stern of the vessel, like the other two ships. The strange "fins" could be removed all together. Or a mixture or the Half-ring and back ring. Move the ring towards the back, and make it like the SOE frigate. The "fins" are throwing me off.

Yep, I can understand people who don't like both ring and "wings", but the front engine looks just like cr*p. So maybe we should only have a large ring in the back? Or a half ring in the middle.

The bottom line is that everyone liked Astero and Stratios, but most people don't like Nestor. So don't fix what ain't broken CCP. Stick with the previous designs.

For people who love vetical ships you could make half rings like on Astero but attached to top and bottom. I would not be a great fun of this but still better than the front ring version.

I'd personnaly go with something like Half Ring, in the back ....

But for all the concept shown. Back ring is best
