Is there any WH naming scheme already ? Do we need one ?

Hi,

I just wonder is there any logic behind WH signature. Especially is there any key to decode
N110 or D374.

If not then I have another question.

Wouldn't it be good/comfortable/helpfull if some logic will be hidden in WH signature.
I.e.:

  • Letter - WH type:
  • S - Static
    W - Wandering (bonus)
    X - exit (for K162 replacement)

  • 1st and 2nd digit - class of source/target system:
  • 0 - null,
    1-6 C1...C6
    7 LS
    8 HS

  • 3rd digit - maximum lifetime of WH in 4 hour increment (0 means 10x)

  • 4rth digit - maximum allowed mass per jump

  • 5th digit - maximum allowed total mass

So for example actual N110
Name Type Departs from Region Constellations Total Count Lifetime mass/Jump max mass Sig Str
N110 static Class 1 2 & 3 all 215 24 hrs 20 Gg 1000 Gg 10.0%
will be named:

S-18611and related K162 will became X-81611 .

What?

You can already tell where a certain K162 comes from by it's show info and the color of the wormhole. No need for for any math puzzles in the sig number.

FFS it's not supposed to be that easy.

Naturally, it did not take long for us to figure it out.

You're welcome, scrub.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

This seems like a perfectly reasonable and uncomplicated idea. Well done.

Could you develop a spreadsheet for this and share with the community?

Please send my regards to Murvunauvas Ralpas. Thanks.

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

Well, I think the collective response will be a sound 'NO'.

Doesn't know anything about wormholes, still feels competent to suggest changes to them. Do you by chance work in government IRL?

It's hard enough to get people to bookmark the way they came in.

And you want to suggest they think in code when bookmarking or referencing connections?

I think you should try it and then record all of the fail that cascades from this confusion.

Ok, here's the secret of WH naming:

Look at the top left corner of your screen
Locate WH name

So you want wormholes to be less unknown? What's the point? Maybe if they remove statics(but ensure the system will always spawn at least 1 wormhole) to compensate for the difficultly.

You got a like for that post.

Uncle your first fatal flaw is that there is no such thing as a static class wormhole.

here's the WH naming system I use:

Get the first letter of the wormhole, and the last number of the locus signature and look up the table below to determine the wormhole name:

A - Barry
B - Framboise
C - Stirling
D - Mallory
E - Pam
H - Lana
I - Dickie
J - Seamus
K - Woodhouse
L - Ray
M - Katja
N - Cyril
O - Cheryl
R - Krieger
S - Trinette
T - Len
U - Carol
V - Cadillac Ron
X - Skorpio
Y - Torvald
Z - Nikolai

Then you get the last number from the Locus ID, as each wormhole has a family name;

1 - Stark
2 - Arryn
3 - Targaryen
4 - Tully
5 - Greyjoy
6 - Lannister
7 - Baratheon
8 - Tyrell
9 - Martell
0 - Archer

Thus you have two exits from J144218, a Framboise Tyrrel and a Cheryl Tyrell. A T405 transient would be a Len Tyrell. And every K162 would be Woodhouse.

And now you know!
