Do CCP ban IP address for botting or just individual accounts?

Hi.

Out of curiosity, if you get caught botting, is it only the botting account (assuming no RMT) that gets banned?
Or is it all of the accounts that you own/your IP?

Just to clarify, I have never used bots or macros in EVE Online, and I probably never will unless almost everyone does it and it is required to stay competitive (which hopefully never happens).

All of them, it's the only way to be sure...

Probably depends on the case at hand, sometimes major ban on IP, system fingerprint, sometimes not. I'd say there's probably no way of knowing exactly what kind of spread your punishment will have - also with things in mind so they don't ban an entire university or the likes.

Bot aspirant? How does one have ambitions to become a computer program?

So you are saying you would break the rules of the game if others did so?

If almost everyone else in the game botted, and the only way to make a reasonable amount of ISK was botting, I would do so.

So yeah, lets hope CCP keep banning bots effectively :).

HAHA

If I was serious about botting I wouldn't have made the thread ^^

And I agree, it would be really terrible for the game if this was the case. I might quit playing too.

No you see, when EVERYONE starts botting you just sell a plex for 5 billion ISK.

And then you do whatever you want.

God I need to learn chinese....

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

It's the same as forum bans. No teeth.

Ban the character and an alt is posting twenty minutes later with nearly the same name. CCP doesn't seem to care that much about these things.

Bot bans are the same. Traditionally you really need to push it to get a perma-ban. It's usually a temp ban of a few days and then they're right back at it again.

An IP ban makes no sense, since in most countries in Europe you have a dynamic IP. Everytime your Router/Modem connects to the Internet, you get a new IP Adress.

There is an escalation system as you all know… However there is one last stage that isn’t documented...

CCP have a special team made up of very large Vikings in suits, of the like that only ever smile unless they're repeatedly griefing and taunting high sec miners.
They come round your house and have a pointed talk to you about what a bad person you have been, and give a unique demonstration on some of the very surprising things you can do with a mouse and keyboard...

Unsurprising to say there are very few repeat offenders after one of these visits.

No Worries

Bannin IP is nonsense. the majority of the internet population in world does not have a fixed IP.

That would be an extremely dumb movement.
