Is there a decent "How to" guide around on Tech 3 Production?

Such as skills required for Tech 3 Production and how it works.

I have come across a few guides but they are missing the required skills and such.

From another guide (NOT MINE):

Reverse Engineering (RE) is *the* big thing in Tech III production.

The sole purpose of RE is to get Hull and Subsystem BPCs for the strategic cruisers.

To be able to perform RE you will require a POS with an Experimental Lab or access to a Caldari Outpost. You cannot do RE in normal NPC stations. An Experimental Lab will anchor in high sec.

Each reverse engineering job will take 1 hour to complete.

Update - We have had confirmation from a CCP dev that training the skills higher will effect the outcome of the reverse engineering job.

Skills required to perform RE

Additional skill requirements to perform the actual reverse engineering on the relic are listed after the bracketed requirements of the Subsystem Technology skills.

Reverse Engineering (requires science 5, Metallurgy 4 and Research 4)
Offensive Subsystem Technology (requires Research 5, Science 5, Engineering 5, High Energy Physics 4) plus Plasma Physics 1
Propulsion Subsystem Technology (requires Research 5, Science 5, Engineering 5, Graviton Physics 4) plus Rocket Science 1
Electronic Subsystem Technology (requires Research 5, Science 5, Electronics 5, Electronic Engineering 4)
Engineering Subsystem Technology (requires Research 5, Science 5, Engineering 5, High Energy Physics 4) plus Quantum Physics 1
Defensive Subsystem Technology (requires Science 5, Nanite Engineering 4, Electronics 5) plus Hydromagnetic Physics 1

The components come from WH space. Tech 3 production is not for the feint of heart or the low skilled. It takes a significant time, isk, and skill investment.
Keep searching!

Good luck! Cool

Tau's Condensed Tech 3 Production Guide

1. Ancient Relic + Datacores + racial Hybrid Tech Decryptors + Reverse Engineering = Tech 3 Hull and Subsystem BPC

Reverse Engineering is done at a Caldari Outpost, or an Experimental Laboratory at a POS (can be anchored in hisec).

The skills required are shown on the relic.

Datacore skills are more important for success than Reverse Engineering skill.

Success rate = base rate * (1 + reverse engineering skill level * 0.01) * (1 + (datacore 1 skill level + datacore 2 skill level) * 0.1)

* Wrecked relics have a base probability of 20 percent and a run count of 3.
* Malfunctioning relics have a base probability of 30 percent and a run count of 10.
* Intact relics have a base probability of 40 percent and a run count of 20.

You can pick which race to reverse-engineer. The relic determines the type of item. Subsystems relics produce one of four random subsystems of the relic type.

2. Ancient Salvaged Materials + Polymers + Hybrid Component BPO = Hybrid Components

Hybrid Component BPO don't require any material research.

Hybrid Components can be built in an NPC station, outpost, or Component Assembly Array at a POS (can be anchored in hisec).

3. Hybrid Components + Tech 3 Hull and Subsystem BPC = Tech 3 Hulls and Subsystems

Subsystems and Hulls are built in a Subsystem Assembly Array at a POS. It can be anchored in hisec.

Ancient Relics come from canisters (require Archeology or Salvaging to open) found around wormhole-space Magnetometric sites (for both hulls and subsystems) and canisters (require Salvaging to open) found around wormhole-space Radar sites (hulls only). Hybrid R.A.M., hybrid datacores, and hybrid decryptors come from canisters (require Hacking to open) found around wormhole-space Radar sites. All wormhole-space Sleeper wrecks yield Ancient Salvaged Materials.

That covers all but polymer reactions. Maybe I'll edit or create another guide for those if needed, but I recommend just buying the polymers.
