context and wording...

bias is found in word selection about an event.

every news paper does it.

its like some newspapers call them freedom righters and others call them terrorists.

its the context that puts the slant on the news not the subject.

Eve news gets reported as-is. The only remotely op-ed stuff is book/game reviews and alliance updates. If you seriously go "The Mittani sometimes posts his alliance updates to tmc, therefore it's a biased website" you're actually insane. Everything else is purely informational almost to a painful degree.

Comparing it to fox news is super disingenuous and not only delegitimizes the serious problems with biased real news reporting, you're also actually weighing Eve Online "news" as equal to real news.

Even suggesting that eve "news" can be biased or misreported in the same way that real life current events can, indicates how unbalanced some of you people really are.

nah en24 is fox... you guys are MSNBC.

furthermore atleast you guys note at the beggining of the articles that they are slanted.

but as i said in an earlier post that bias can be as slight as context and choosing what word to describe an event.

for the mittani.com i would think suffer from cognitive bias.

Without a profit incentive, eve news sites will only exist for reporting their own perspective either for propaganda or attention. Plus, doing real reporting is work and if you aren't getting paid...

Reporting requires sources and trust. In a game like this there are really no consequences or incentives to give multiple perspectives to even try to report objective news. Maybe if the game allowed you one and only one character, which you could never change and was connected to your DNA maybe you could get something 'real'.

I think people should just be greatful for organized story tellers of real events. True, true with spin, completely false...whatever, it's a video game. Just have fun with it.

oh and the moderators there are total aspies who believe themselves to be the final authority on what is "relevant" to EVE, which includes deleting posts with certain titles but, strangely enough, copy/pasting entire blog posts, devblogs and TMC articles (all of which are covered by copyright) into self-posts perfectly fine
