How many battleships to kill a dreadnaught?

Out of curiosity I'm interested on how many BS you would needed to destroy a dreadnaught? Assuming a lone dreadnaught with no support ships. give an average load out for each. Also how much time would be needed?

And no I'm not trying to put together a force to gank the Veldnaught

2 mil hp is not an unreasonable expectation. considering the age of the veldnaught assume it is completely faction/deadspace fit to the maximum degree possible and plan accordingly.

At 4 mil ehp or so you'll need well over 300 tornadoes to gank his dread in amarr which iirc is a 1.0 sec system ie instant concord response.

I'm more looking for a fleet battle situation. But if we assume the tornadoes are allowed to fire multiple volley's lets say 150 to kill a dreadnaught. Against a dreadnaught fleet of say 20 we'll need about 3000 pilots to kill them, and that's even before the enemy bring in support carriers and our own loses.

How many for a titan?

years ago i was part of an northern Coalition fleet (not NC. [dot] ) . we had about 220 Maelstroms alpha a carrier. I assume a dread would be the same, maybe 2 volleys. Don't forget they cannot be remote repaired while in deployed mode.

not that many if you have time to kill. A few neuting ships, a few close range DPS battlehips, a HIC ... it'll die.

yeah if you mean without alpha-ing the ships, probably only 6 would be needed to kill it.

A dread without support simply takes time to kill... It has great damage application against stationary targets, but even a non-prop mod BS can outrace it's turret tracking. While in siege, it reps pretty well (5-10k ehp depending on fit), but he'll run out of stront (for sieging) eventually. Alternatively, you can put enormous cap pressure on him with 2-4x neut BS's, at which point he wont be able to rep anymore. Then its only time to grind through his 3m EHP.

Ok what I'm really trying to workout is the number of BSs we'll need to hold off a null sec capital assault force when CCP finally jumps off the slippery slope and lets the null sec alliances take sovereignty over empire space, just after CFC has finished off the Northern faction and is null sec.

Since it takes 12 days to built a dreadnaught from a basic blueprint high sec is going to have to fight with sub-capital ships as CFC marches into Jita and Amarr to take over the EVE economy. At least in Amarr they might be able to use the Veldnaught in the defence of the system, in Jita we'll be stuck with conventional ships and throwing the chat scammers at them. Either way its going to result in attritional warfare

it's much cheaper to fly a 300 mil gank hyp with 1100 dps than get dreads around. If you're clever and apply yourself it doesn't take much to go a long way

wow.

lol. Your entire post seemed to imply fighting a single dreadnought. Now you're just being delusional. First, the idea that hisec is going away is completely delusional. Second, the idea that hisec would form some of united defense force to resist the invaders is also patently ludicrous.

Also, people in empire have always been able to build dreads. You can start building them solo RIGHT NOW if that's what you're worried about. Maybe you meant to post about super-caps?
