Why are not ships in vertical position staying there?

I noticed recently something illogical how ships behave in EVE. When I give align to command to ship it aligns to target. After I command ship to stop it stays aligned to target with one exception. If target forces ship to go vertical position and I command ship to stop ship starts sliding to horizontal position.

I propose that ships in vertical positions stay that way and don't slide slowly to horizontal position.

Comments are welcome for my idea.

Completely agree.

It would give space a more three-dimensional feel. The code is needless to begin with, it's like the designers were trying to be ignorant of zero-G physics; the designers of a spaceship game don't want to be in a place as unfamiliar as space, where there is no absolute up.

You have to remember that no so long ago people were complaining that "felt strange" to reach upsidedown places. There were people asking why you cant just steer your ship instead of using align navigation.

Maybe devs would like to do it right, they just dont want to have tons of "I just want to blow stuff up" folks complaining that they were going to dock but the ship go to the staion upside down. Or pvpers complaining that it is broken feature that difficults you to bump your target from a gate because it is sideways.
