I saw some other threads but not sure if my issue is the same.

While running DX11 version, the game is very choppy and virtually unplayable, as if every other frame is being skipped over or something. Running DX9 works perfect. This happens even on reduced settings. I have a top of the line laptop graphics card so DX11 shouldn't be an issue.

System:

Ibuypower Laptop
64-bit Windows 7
Core I7 3610QM
Nvidia 680M - R331 game ready driver (newest driver as of today)
16MB ram

*edit: One thing I noticed: On DX9 the graphics card displayed is INTEL(R) Integrated Graphics 4000, on DX11 it's displayed as NVIDIA 680M.

We are investigating the DX11 performance issues. In general the performance of DX11 is slightly better than DX9, but we have seen several reports of choppiness and are trying to repro this inhouse.

The launcher not allowing the setting change is a separate issue - we´re working on that as well.

In the meantime, you can try forcing the client to dx9 by bypassing the launcher. Create a shortcut to exefile.exe and add /triPlatform=dx9 to the command line.

Thanks for the response. DX11 seems like a ***** to handle, stability-wise.

Must be a user error, i have done this on 2 comps just fine. Are you putting the force command in the correct location

The fix to this was to set the eve application to use the "high performance GPU" in the nvidia system controller. When I set this for the launcher, and the evefile.exe the launcher lets me now choose between dx9 and dx11

What remains thou is the terrible stuttering with dx11 and even in dx9 its slightly choppy and temps on gpu and cpu are overheating there aswell.

I sent an eveserverlog file in a bug report while ingame with the choppy dx11 enabled. Hope that helps.

keep DX 11 and use "fixed window" instead of fullscreen

i paste below the content of a thread i made earlier, so we have all DX 11 feedback in one thread:

Quote:
since Rubicon, i encounter big lag all over the game whatever the graphic settings on my laptop

this happen in DX11 + fullscreen

tested DX 9 fixed window / fullscreen + DX11 fixed window, it's OK

i post here since trying to bug report give error 500 since yesterday

below are pics of fps monitor for each usecase

DX9 fullscreen
DX9 fixed window
DX11 fixed window
DX11 fullscreen

all those were recorded doing the same thing: sitting in hangar

DxDiag Dump

computer spec: MSI GE60 2OC (i7-4700MQ / GTX 765M / 8GB DDR3 / win7 64Bits)

all drivers are up to date

I have this issue too, stuttering graphics and the like after the switch to DX11. However, switching to interval immediate seems to 'fix' the stuttering. That said, it's not exactly a long term solution, given how much pressure interval immediate puts in the GPU in comparison to interval one.

yeah, did you tried switching in fixed window with interval one, solved it for me while keeping the GPU in a cool state

You're right, that does seem to fix it. Bit odd but I suppose it'll do, I don't mind now that I don't have to worry about my GPU getting fried.
