EVE Online: Rubicon 1.0 has been successfully deployed on November 19, 2013.

For full details, especially already known issues, please check the patch notes.

General feedback about EVE Online: Rubicon 1.0 can be posted in the general feedback thread here. And please also check the general issues thread before reporting anything here; many EVE issues are generalized client issues, and are not Mac-specific.

Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:

  • Description of problem, the more verbal the better
  • Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
  • OS version
  • Step by step guide to what causes the issue
  • Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

Hello,

I'm having major crashes with my client that, as a result, don't allow me to kill the client, tab out, and general crash my whole Mac forcing a power off. The launcher is fine and the client is fine through the character selection, but it almost instantly (less than half a second) crashes as soon as I get in game, the graphics don't load, just the station panel and sidebar. I've tried the repair tool, and that made no difference. I haven't redownloaded the client (I only get 600kbps here, hoping someone with faster internet will try it first and see if it works). I've tried this twenty-odd times so far, failed every time.

I know a couple of others had this problem and have found no solution. I already posted about this in the Rubicon Issues page, hopefully I can see here if it's a wide-spread issue.

I'm using Mavericks that has it's own problems, but I had no problem with Mavericks and the previous expansion.

Same. My screen is all black -- not even the station panel or sidebar loads. To add more information, I logged in with no issues. I podded myself to a different system (Orvolle). Immediately after the pod animation finished, the client locked, and now locks anytime I try to log in on this character, requiring a cold reboot.

Same issue here. I did find a a post from someone with a a similar issue. They reinstalled and it didn't help. Then they unchecked the 'keep launcher open' setting in the launcher options and it worked. This setting change did not work for me. However, I have not done a reinstall yet.

Jochim, I assume you're talking about this guy: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=297280

I looked on there and their problem seems similar, but slightly different, to mine. From what I understand, they had a graphical error where they still had a bit of control (i.e. he says he can 'select things' underneath the black screen). My issue makes my entire Mac useless. None-the-less, I tried ticking the option to keep the launcher running while the client launched, and it did nothing to help my problem. Did it work for you?

EDIT: Sorry, I skimmed your post and didn't realise you already said it didn't work. I guess we just have to wait for CCP to notice and fix this one...

Hi,

I start launcher
I click my character
I log in, everything loads (my Character is in space, I get message *warp bubble ect..*
then it freezes

Same issue, total client crash and total mac crash (force power off) ,

I went into console and got this, the same string of information repeats like in a loop....

System information
Macbook pro 13-inch (early 2011)
OSX Maverick 10.9
2.3 Ghz intel i5
8 GB 1333mhz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512mb

PS: Been playing for 5 months now, two clients at a time, worked fine (the occasional freeze but nothing to force power off, i could easily kill client and come back)

PPS: and the ship images/icons ect, same problem, no icons....

EDIT/UPDATE : The main issue seems to be when I go to warp, then Eve and Mac crash (forced power down necessary)
I opened a support ticket and GM was kind enough to move my character to station
Then I was able to log on and do everything as normal (while DOCKED)
then i tried again to undock ... flying around works, sounds , everything is fine ....warp to stargate, bam freezes
So the moment i get *warp drive active* it freezes

Please note: open a support ticket via web site not ingame, GM's will move you to station (at least we can skill up meanwhile) What?

EDIT SECOND : Finally it was the Shader, set to LOW, i can do anything but like the others in this post, the black lines while in warp appear..from another poster below, thanks for screenshot

Right, didn't work and I have no control after the character selection either. I have to power cycle the MacBook after the game launches also. I am going to try a reinstall when I get home. I would be interested to know how it works for you if you try it before I get a chance.

I did notice that it seems to be freezing while it fades in. The last time I tried it I had some faint words from the side bar showed up.

Update: I managed to fix my issue. I turned off "Load Station Environment" and set Texture Quality and Shader Quality to Low and was able to log in. The moment I turned Shader Quality back to Medium, my client immediately displayed a completely white screen and hard-locked again.

Try setting Shader Quality to Low and see if it fixes the problem for you!

I've set Shader Quality to low as has been suggested, and I'm now able to start the game and cruise around.

Ship, station, and fittings icons are still corrupted.

Same issue as others, I get the "fatal exception" and total freeze freezer my entire mac. i'm running a 2012 mac mini. The game would run fine for a little while but then crash.

Confirming that this works for me too. Thanks for the workaround! I hope CCP gets around to fixing this - I like my shader settings.

On another note, I think Mac users can agree in utter unison that we're frustrated that the icons haven't been fixed yet. I hoped Rubicon would have yielded some uncorrupted thumbnails...

So as I previously stated, lowering shader settings worked to get the client up and running, but I have this problem now (which isn't a new problem either):

When my shader is set to low, I get these spinning black bars around space. See here: http://s9.postimg.org/rnyzzohi6/Screen_Shot_2013_11_20_at_15_28_25.jpg

I've had this in previous versions, I'm sure some of you have too.

• I still can't spin my ship in station.
• Processor 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon/Mac Pro
Memory 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
• Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)
• No idea. No one knows, CCP doesn't care
• Nothing, complete client delete and reinstall won't work, getting "help" from GM's results in blind copy/pastes with "clear your cache" replies. Hey, I DELETED the entire frigging client twice now!

Yep. Setting shader quality to low fixed it for me also. And I also get the spinning black bars in warp. Icons are still corrupted. I had good Icons until the last release.

For those of you asking, you can press 'esc' and get the graphic settings when on the character selection screen.
