A Personal Apology to Capsuleers

Dear Capsuleers

You will not have heard of me, but I am a long-time admirer of your pioneering, your bravery and your innovation. I have followed the rise of your kind since the technologies that make it possible became public knowledge. In the latter part of my career as a lecturer at Hedion University, I spent a great deal of time studying your progress.

It is due to my admiration and knowledge of capsuleers that I have found myself working for the Tech Four Media Group as a scientific consultant on the Tech4 News broadcast. I was (and still am) a firm believer in their goals of bringing news of capsuleer activities to a wider audience.

However, I am dismayed at the anti-capsuleer sentiments that are prevalent in our latest transmission and seek to distance myself from them. It is my belief that there is an element within Tech4 News that is unstable and at odds with the group's greater purpose. It is evident that this seditionist element has too great an influence on the show's direction and I will endeavour in future to be more vocal in my support of your kind.

My humblest apologies.

The anchor is an idiot. I'm in a relatively good mood though, so apology accepted.

Edit: The uploading of a dog's consciousness to a computer is hilarious, especially given you did it on accident.

To My Dear Professor Tedanih,

Please accept my deepest and most sincerely heartfelt apologies. My behavior has been completely unacceptable in the professional sense, and reprehensible according to personal merits. You, each individual who has taken time out of their busy days to respond to this call to arms, and the Tech4 News listenership-at-large are all owed a public apology.

To Wit: I am, beyond the historically impressive descriptive capacity of language, sorry to have kept you all waiting so long on my reply. Golly Gosh Gee if I wasn't just too busy being a superb caliber newsman somewhere else.

Honestly, "Professor." Are you really so desperate for grant money that you'd resort to throwing Tech 4's unimpeachably honest approach to reporting under the InterBus? I know you have a unique passion for the sciences, but is staging a grandiose display of your own incompetence really the best approach to a stable career in the field? Couldn't you at least pick one single specialty to focus on? Good lord, man. If the more austere members of the Scientific Method's antiquity utilized as scatter-brained an approach as you do, New Eden would never have crawled it's way out of the post-EVE Gate dark ages. I'm only being specific about that because I don't really know where intellectuals of your caliber stand on the whole notion that there were other dark ages on the far side of the gate before the gate was even discovered.

I think we've dealt with the good Professor's personal failings long enough. Let's turn to you, you crazy Capsuleers. My apologies for not being able to insert dramatic sound cues here, a la my rather excellently excecuted "Fact!" segment in Tech4's second broadcast. The miracle of the written language will have to suffice.

Dear Katrina Oniseki:
I'm so very relieved. I can only assume that your apology is an admission of your own part in the general disregard for human life exhibited by Capsuleers in general.

Dear Myxx:
I'd read your comment, but I'm too busy wondering about your name. If you really are the Mynxee wannabe you seem to be, you'll be pleased to know the position is now open.

Dear Jason Gallente:
Nothing pleases us more than to entertain sociopathological techno-deities such as yourself.
PS: I absolutely love your call sign. Seriously: Don't you go changing.

Dear Graelyn:
I'm glad you're willing to concede our points. Tech4 may be a difficult pill to swallow, but we absolutely pride ourselves in bringing New Eden the ugly truths it has absolutely no interest in dealing with.

PS: On a side note, unlike my buddy Jason up there, I lost count of how many times I had to flip between windows in my Neocom display in order to spell your name correctly. You realize there's no way any self respecting reporter would risk their reputation by trying to pronounce that disturbing imitation of a word during a live broadcast, right?

Thanks for tuning in, New Eden, and as always: Keep your eyes, on the skies.

You should look at her first flight date and mine. I graduated almost three years prior from the Federal Naval Academy to her leaving the Republic Military School. My current name is used in lieu of my actual name. I'm shocked anyone would confuse us, though she ain't the only person Im confused for.

Ohwell. Hope that explains that we've got nothing to do with each other, never have and never will.

Edit: And as for disregarding human life... You're to be forgiven for being inable to comprehend us. Though, you may wish to not be so loud about it.

It would be a tragic shame if such a promising news outlet were to attract unwanted, angry attention because of its main anchor instigating poor relations with people who are known to be so terrible to baseliners. Won't be me, someone else probably already is considering it, given we apparently do it for laughs, according to you. Yes? It would be terribly easy to pay some people to make you disappear... space is big, you know that?

If one of my own employees were to speak with me like that, I would have them tossed into a jetcan and ejected in orbit of a star - that way, if the radiation doesn't immediately murder them, the lack of oxygen after a little bit would. Not a very nice way to die, is it?

Another Edit: Your scientist is to be commended, by the way. He is freaking brilliant, if by mistake. Do you know how many people have tried and failed to completely upload themselves to a computer? He did it on accident. Again, however, you're to be forgiven for being the clueless baseliner that you are. I mean, ****, we capsuleers aren't completely sure about how that happens. We're not even really sure how or why the sleepers did the same thing.

If ANYONE moves against T4 News, spare the scientist and get him properly trained for a pod.

News, eh? Sounds more like a comedy show to me. You boys and girls at T4 are peddling a brand of crazy that even Gutter Press wouldn't touch.

I predict this matter will shortly end in a decisive and very permanent manner.

I am not offended at all. It is good to see a station that does not focus on what just people want to hear. Most of the things mentioned about capsuleer's view to the people of new Eden are varied. Some can be true, some are not. That of course depends on the individual and how they were raised, schooled, or trained.

I did however enjoy T4's broadcasts. Though I do wish your field reporter is well and made it out safely. Hopefully the casuleer pilot who "shot first and asked questions later" was kind enough to pick her up if she was sucessfull in abandoning ship.

Techno sociopath? Huh. I think you'll find I'm actually very concerned about human life and am disturbed at the general disregard for it. I was referring to the part with the dog..

Perhaps you should get your **** straight before you make assumptions just because I have a cord in my neck.

Then please disregard my comment on tech4 and talk here. You just claimed that you wanted to "put down" all of nullsec. From the DRF, to the CFC, down to the Southern Coalition and Stain Empire. Do you really want all of us running around your high security space?

The main statement I was making is that most capsuleers are not completely evil, as you claimed. I don't know why you are inflating a side comment so much.

Dear Mr Adavaar

As much as your resume paints you as a high-calibre Gallente celebrity with a strong pedigree in media presenting, your recent conduct has been far from exemplary and I'm beginning to suspect there may be some truth to those gutter press rumours about you. If that is the case, then please get help as your recent behaviour suggests you may be relapsing.

It saddens me that you have used this platform to spread your divisive and negative opinions especially in these trying times. You even have the gall to present recent tragic events with complete indifference and/or amusement.

You may not be concerned for your own welfare, but I am more than aware of the potential ramifications of an angry capsuleer mob and do not wish the Tech4 team or myself to be dragged down with you.

Please desist in your provocation of our capsuleer audience and retract your offensive remarks.

Regards

No need to apologize. In a lot of ways, I share these anti-egger sentiments. I do believe that some of the stuff mentioned in the transmission is false, and there really is no need to paint us as worse than we are. We are pretty bad, but if you spread lies, your message, no matter how true it may be, will lose credibility.

I'm willing to offer you some of my insights in our behaviour and some of my theories as to why we behave this way, if you are interested.

It's an interesting phenomenon, isn't it? Why we invariably become monsters, I mean. I think it has a lot to do with life and death ceasing to matter. Once you clone a few times, death becomes a triviality, no longer something to fear and dread and postpone like we did when we were still planet-bound.

And once your own life stops mattering to you, so do the lives of everyone around you.

I bet this is why the Joves avoid knowing their manner of death so religiously.
