Combat Probing - Always landing on the beacon - Did something change?

And no, they aren't Acceleration Gates before someone ask.

I find out that each time I probe down, say, a mission runner, I land on the site's beacon, despite having a warp-in sitting on the target, always landing on the beacon. Meaning a lot of ships ends up being out of tackle range, or take forever to slowboat to, even under MWD.

I seems to remember that when there was no acceleration gate, only a regular deadspace pocket, you used to warp straight to the warp-in, NOT the beacon when you probed a ship down.

Now my question is: Am I remembering wrongly or CCP changed something on probing mechanics and I am just noticing it now?

Not having an acceleration gate does not mean that it isn't deadspace. Compare it to for instance large FW plexes, they are also 'open', but if you warp to someone, you will always end up on the beacon (or at range if you warped at range).

I think you can check by trying to warp around on grid.

A lot of missions and areas have beacons that force anything warping to a ship or the site to warp to the beacon. If you bookmark the beacon you can warp at range but if you are warping to a ship or a sig through probing you will end up at the beacon.
