Yeah, let's cause a TON of people to be forced to unsub by driving PLEX price through the roof. If you want to donate donate YOUR money, not MINE by PROXY. But that's not what it's about, is it?

The real drivers behind this idea are people with PLEX stacks, and PLEX traders hoping to profit on higher prices. It's nothing more.

Because dead people > higher plex prices.

Get your priorities straight. Internet spaceships are deadly serious.

Bringing that whole new meaning to "I'll kill you for a plex" I do approve.

at 700m, a plex is 23m/day.

A ton of people will be forced to unsub? Will they also start shooting the jita monument?

It's nice to see that despite the fact you're all a big pack of meanies in game, there's a really positive vibe when it comes to programs such as PLEX for GOOD.

We're well aware of the horrible situation in the Philippines right now, and everyone who has been affected has our most sincere sympathies.

The Community Team are currently discussing potential options for what we may be able to do to harness the good will of the EVE Community, and are liaising with other departments at CCP to look into the best option.

While we can't promise anything at this stage, we're looking at the situation to see what, if anything, we can do to allow EVE Players to assist.

Apologies for the delay with regards to responding to this, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through in terms of conforming with legality before we can proceed with any form of donations. Smile

If and when, please follow up with a Dev Blog, so people might see it when they log in.

I had put this up in out of pod, but i fill this should be here as well.

Little late on getting this out and may have been said already, but this happened over the weekend and team two goes out this weekend.

I wonder what the coincidence is , "Team Rubicon, which is made up of military veterans who work with first responders, prepared packages of food, supplies and medical items over the weekend and will begin rebuilding communities throughout the Philippines."

lol, the sheer amount of stupidity and fail in this statement is just comical XD

Firstly even if this PLEX drive achieves the very high standards set by the last ones, the mass of PLEX gathered would not be massively significant in terms of in game economy. The Haiti drive raised an excellent >40,000 dollars for victims of the disaster, or 2290 PLEX over 16 days. In other word a just over 7% market share. There was no massive PLEX price increase as a result of the previous PLEX drives. Basic mathematics breaks your argument even without moral considerations.

As for claiming charity contributors are paying with your money, that is simply bad logic. You did not pay in real money for the GTC used here, or in isk for the PLEX in game. Please understand that eve operates on a market economy, and other players have the right to spend money as they please also.

Or are you claiming your right to cheap PLEX outweighs a disaster victims’ right to basic amenities and medical care?

I won’t grace the more paranoid parts of your rant with a reasponse, lol. Do you also believe the moon landing was a hoax, that crop circles are caused by UFOs and that polio vaccination makes you sterile?

TIL posting a duplicate thread and bumping it gets you a dev reply and gets the original thread locked. Never mind that that thread was first, or that that thread was started by people running a special fund for years. No this one has a dev reply, so it must be more important. Way to treat people who have been setting aside a portion of their ISK for years for rl disasters like this.

And interestingly the post in the other thread clearly indicates that no one from CCP bothered to even read that thread over the four days that it took to get a response out of CCP, and even when they noticed the thread, they did not bother to read it.

Amazing coincidence, and would have tied in nicely with the expansion. Think CCP are going to miss the ball here. They could have earned some brownie points, got publicity, helped people, and made a lot of players happy. Currently, my sentiment is disgust, and frustration. Hope it changes.

CCP is never going to give up their $$$ as they are greedy. And besides, who cares about the Phillipines? When the US had hurricane Katrina where were the people from the Phillipines raising money to help us? Nowhere is where.

The tragedy that has occured in the Philoppines is very sad and unfortunate, and the sheer magnitudeis terrifying.

The world communoty should try to do all they can to help them, and all individuals who are able to help should hopefully contribute to the recovery effort.

But, considering recent events with CCP,

With any money raised by the kind and generous EVE community via PLEX sales, so as to help the Philippines,

"How can we trust CCP that all the funds raised for this tragedy actually end up and get to the appropriate aid organizations?"

CCP has shown that they are not trustworthy, have no integrity, are not transparent with the EVE community on matters that should be transparent, and they are willing to do anything to get money.

Sadly, may I suggest that, if any individuals from the EVE community want to help the Philippines, that they find outside and more trustworthy organizations to use, so as to give their financial aid contribution.

Somer was so quick to give out free Plex at Eve Vegas and free 1bil credits during their cashout earlier this month... i wonder how many plex worth of isk they gave away during their scramble to *redacted*... and i remember very well how CCP went out of their way to lock threads, erase posts, and shill for them during that whole fiasco... but no words on the legalities of it, etc. now, when the community wants to cashout for charity, CCP goes into legalese mode about why they have to lag it when time is critical, and the other entity, a supposed 'community service' pillar, which has demonstrated the power and ability to hand out free isk like candy, is nowhere to be found. if both of them put the same amount of fervor as they did with the previous events, maybe the *redacted* involved could actually save lives through charity instead of destroying them through gambling. what a ****** up set of priorities for some...

hey people of eve, give tengu a break... i'm a filipino and he considers me as his ingame friend and i as well... and its just he was reminded of the plex for haiti drive that ccp did a few years back... i didnt even know about it and he just thought that putting it in the forum would be and excellent idea for people to be aware that ccp has this thing in which they support charities like this... its not in his intention of manipulating PLEX prices or ruining are game. CCP might have done it too even without tengus initial drive... its such a good thing for me that a thai not even a filipino long time player has thought about this and even used up his precious time to set this up... thanks you for your response on this matter and i would really be thankful if CCP would get through with this. and yes, you can donate to the red cross too in RL and i am thanking you now for the help you are giving my countrymen. thanks again and may you all have a wonderful evening... fly safe!

The same argument was presented by Americans in previous drives! Americans said that they did not want to help Hiati and Pakistan as they had not helped the US when Katrina struck. This proved to be wrong as these countries had actually helped and donated services to the US, and I am sure the same would be true for Philippines.

In any case, charity cannot be reciprocal. If you do not want to give to charity for whatever reason, it is ok. Nobody is forcing you to do it. Do not try and justify your (non)actions by blaming the poor country in trouble.

And to be honest, it would be great to hear that even though they did not help us (which is probably wrong), we will help them. That would be the real spirit of charity. In fact the true spirit would be if you said nothing negative and just gave.

Smile

CCP, are you kidding us ?

- You delay / don't proceed with a worthwhile charity drive, ( while in the past, there have been more than one successful charity drive occasions ), due to legal issues ? What the hell ????!!!!????

- But you are so quick to praise / promote / white knight, ( and dare I say, support ), your favourite business partner Somer.
