My Tornado shall be named "Clearly Balanced," and from the looks of things, it's the only tier3 BC i'll bother with.

On This toon, I've taken inspiration from the music I listen too. Namely for this toon Iron Maiden, so my ships are mamed after song titles.

I used to give to name them "...", then just the ship type itself, like "Cynabal" for Cynabal. Keep doing it for all ships, since it doesn't tell anything about who is flying it, which is useful when there's more than just a few people in local.

Some friend gave me a Cynabal called "The Plague" though, keeping that one forever and always, since it describes Cynabals so well.

I name my ships after local places with a bit of lateral thinking.

My mining ship is Llechwedd - which is a Welsh slate mine hereabouts
My ship which goes out and looks for trouble is named after a council estate in nearby Porthmadog; Pensyflog.
My Badger is called, Mochyn Daear because I couldn't think of anything other than badger.

Pam:  I wonder what my name means in Welsh?Nessa: Why?

I used to name my ships after ex-girlfriends.... They were bitches too.

After 6 years playing though my list ran out. Now I name them after rivers mostly.

All my ships are named based on British warships of the same class that served in WWII.

I do, however, use a different naming strategy for my expendable ships. I name them after my ex's. That way, I never really get upset over losing them.

I name my Amarr Ships "Made of Explodium"
since they all have a tendency to explode when someone points them

Pop culture references mostly. I also use Roman numerals to keep track of how many instances of each loadout I have lost in pew. My current Rifter is named Malkovich XI, because I love flying Rifters and Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich.

A lot of random names, but I do have some standard names:

Hurricane: Battleblade (cos its made for cutting stuff)
Sleipnir: Drunk horse (cos Sleipnir was Odin's 8 legged horse from Norse Mythology, as my sleipnir has no legs, it must be drunk(legless) ;)

-The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it! Other names: Drenzul (WoT, WoW, Lineage 2, WarH, BloodBowl, BSG, SC2 and lots more)

I'm a big fan of Iain M Banks' sci fi novels about The Culture . There is an in joke enjoyed by the independent minded ships when choosing their own names and I've tended to follow the same path:

My Rifter tackle is called Gravitas Tripped, arty Thrasher is Gravitas Thrashed, shield 'cane is Gravitas Seeker and so on.

Just for giggles, whenever I'm in a rookie ship I rename it Maelstrom

Oh and whenerver I'm in my pod, I rename that Spot or Pea PodLol

I know, I'm easily amused! P
