and Sir Spottington, really.. really? you really think that just because this game has more people on one screen that it beats out a game that has been around for less time (like rift and gw2) and its numbers of players far excised that of what this game has online at any one point in time. come on, just because theres a thousand people on one screen doesn't mean anything, i can take a picture of a thousand people, and sure it might be a epic pic but when you have hundreds of pics of small groups of people coming in, that is more over whelming than just one pic

MMOs follow the same path. Big growth at the start then a few months in they bleed subs until either they die or level out at a fraction of where they started. EVE is unique, its done nothing but grow for ten years, even the bloated monstrosity that is WoW hass been bleeding millions of subs over the last few years.

Somewhere out there, a village in the Pandaverse is missing one of their beloved...people.

This thread is yet another well written and well reasoned argument for putting a button in the esc menu that allows you to go back to WoW.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

WoW seems like it might be fun, people just seem happy if thick, wizzards don't mock your divorce and you can haves your stuff back.

Not true man.

The older players still lost ships but instead of crying about how unfair things are we learned how to fight back.

If someone is so mentally weak that losing a pixel spaceship makes them quit the game then good luck to them in whatever game they decide to complain about and quit next.

As demonstrated by the most popular MMO, most people just want to quickly reach some artificial rank and dance about showing off their protected assets from some dungeon crawl that doesn't actually involve any risks...

Other's enjoy a colder, more harsh world....

If you're flying something that will take you two weeks or more to replace perhaps you're not being as efficient as you could with your time?

Its time to stand up against the bad empire based CEO telling falsehoods about what new characters can accomplish and pushing them towards an in game experience of drudgery and loneliness keeping them in the shadow of ignorance for at nest their own profit at worse apathy towards all the experiences that Eve has to offer.

There is as much honour in this game as there is dishonour. If you write a post ranting about and accusing the community of the later, do not expect the former to show up for you.

You must understand that a lot of EVE is about the meta-game. To succeed often relies on you building those trusts and relationships in game. If you try to compare EVE to another game purely on the game itself you will not succeed in creating a true comparison because of this fact.

I lost a shitfit pve cane to the tuskers in my first week(ish) of Eve. Then the guy ransomed my pod. Left me completely destitute and ruined all the effort I had put into the game up to that point. What a rush!

As a newbie, this event sealed the deal for me. Eve was clearly the greatest ******* game of all time. No other game has ever been able to replicate that feeling of danger and risk before or since. In fact, Eve has ruined all other MMO's for me. How can I possibly become invested in a game that I cannot conceivably lose?

Some people, like you OP, just aren't meant for this kind of game. Sorry mate.

Just like I said, I quit in 2009 because of how the games learning curve was completely unfriendly to new people. Yeah it’s a great game I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of it. what i do not enjoy it how the only way that it offers a season MMO player who wants to enjoy just a small amount PVE play before I start any pvp, it’s not about me not understanding the mechanics, hell learning cookie cutter specs and how specific class work along with an open range of difference to learn, just so happens to be what I love about MMO’s. What I do not love, is the fact that I can be sitting in a high sec, minding my own business (and it’s not like I ever went to someone else and blown them up when they were doing the same) running my own mission and have some class bully run up and blow me up because they think its funny, then give the excuses that I was just firing fireworks at you and that this is me teaching you by destroying everything that you worked at for the last 2 weeks.

So yeah if that’s the only way a person can say is how other players are supposed to learn how to play this game, then why would I or anyone I know ever want to play. I mean come on, my brothers playing this game to. We both quit that long ago, I now have a lot of guild buddies who are playing rift and gw2, why would I ever try to convert them to this game if all they have to look forward to is the people who have been playing since the beginning, just wants to dump on all the newbies. And you can sit there and tell me that I haven’t read enough, watch enough videos, or any other BS about how I can just figure this game out enough to defend myself because all I feel like is a boy with a stick fighting off a pack of a pack of wolfs with no better reason than, you look like you’d be fun to screw with.

The tutorials are crap.

The only reason I make money on this game is because I have a PHD in economics.

I'm suprised people actually pay to play this game.

Oh well if that's all ya need I can do that for ya.

No catches, besides being around when I am so we can actually communicate besides a email every other day.

Don't need to join a corp or fleet or anything.

In some cases I'll even throw some ISK at ya. Though I prefer to teach you how and let you earn it :P

http://www.eve-search.com/stats/Xercodo See that 20% posting rate in the New Citizens Q&A forum section? That's not much of trolling newbs I can tell ya that :P

Gimmie a race of ships you like and an activity you wanna do and I'll show you how :P

Just remember, this place is like downtown east LA. There is usually never any reason behind killing you besides being able to. People just treat it like a sport. They aren't mentally ****** up, they aren't rejects from society that get off from killing you. Most of the time they're just normal every day guys would just as willingly have a beer with you IRL as shoot you in game.

You simply need to learn to not take things so seriously. I can take you under my wing, but after this thread you'll wanna keep a low profile and keep away from heavily populated systems. Hang out in dark areas of space and you'll usually make friends :P

Find a place small enough that you can get to know the locals or something :P

Oh also, if you need a little bit of an inspirational kick try reading the Empyrean Age and Templar One books. And while you're at it try reading all the chronicles. They make the universe really come alive for you.

Just face it . You are not cut out for a MMO that requires brains. No shame in it since you are not alone.
X million amount of other players are not either, thats why theme park MMO´s are attracting so many gamers.

Also someone please give the man a handkerchief so he can dry his tears...

it doesn't take brains to realize that your another trolling sob, its typical to get a response like this on a thread like this, its called exposure, self indulgent sadist

the fact of the matter is your just helping to prove a point, and you call me dumb, ha

Bud I would label myself as a carebare but your attitude makes me want to cheer the guys on to blow up whatever you have left in assets so the door can hit you on the way out.

I believe that adults can be expected to stand on their own two feet. As an adult myself, I feel that taking that assumption away from someone is incredibly patronizing, in essence treating them like they are children.
