SiSi Client memory leak?

Windows reported that it was running out of memory after some 10-20 minutes on SiSi.
I had a lot of trouble with resolution as well, but I have no idea if they were related.

Either way, it has a pretty noticeable memory leak somewhere that you may want to look into.
If you want me to find some EVE logs to help you reproduce, please leave instructions for Windos 7.

We are very interested in more details about this.
If you are assuming that your client might have a memory leak it would be useful to open the client monitor with CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + M and switch to the memory tab. A constantly increasing memory usage is a very good hint towards a memory leak. Submit a bug report in this case from within the client and make sure to also include a screenshot of this memory graph. We will get additional information regarding the memory usage when submitting teh bug report from the client.

A small warning: In some occasions the memory tracking of the client monitor caused a small memory leak on its own in the past. I'm not sure if all such cases are fixed - it's better to only open the client monitor after running the client for a bit and to not keep it running all the time.

edit: Please also try if you experience this memory leak with both dx9 and dx11. Thanks!

Done. It's named "Client Memory Leak?" if it does anything.

In the launcher for Singularity if you click the settings "cog" icon in the top-right, then navigate to the DirectX tab, you will be able to select either DX9 or DX11 for the client to run in. I had a look at your report and you were running at about 850MB usage after 15 minutes, by your screenshot it looks like you were in space at the time. This amount of memory usage seems pretty normal to me for that situation. Regardless, I'll keep looking into it.

After your post Sledgehammer, I updated SiSi on my other laptop and the problem is not there.
So that must mean it was on my side. I can't figure out what changed from regular TQ use tho'.

Thanks for the responses though! Smile

It happened on the same laptop as originally, this time on TQ.
Obviously then it's with my laptop and not TQ. Now I just have to figure out what it is.

Thanks a lot for the replies!

Not for nothing, but you also may want to check up what programs you are running at the same with the client. Some "optimizers" usually cause memory leakage by exceeding the number of processes to watch other processes. You have to watch carefully with the windows tool (CTRL ALT DEL then Start Task Manager) to see if in fact it is a EVE problem or more processes are using more memory aswell.

I know one such case, when you start any back up software while running EVE (auto backup forgoten schedule, or for some reason started backup processes from a random software) that then the memory EVE uses goes to the roof, as does Media Player and Windows Explorer.

Badly configured VM scheme for Win Vista and 7 also makes you get those kind of errors often.

It has happened on my other laptop for a while now. I know this is the Test Server feedback, but it's happening on TQ and I have no way of explaining it.
I will repeat the memory bug report and link hereto again.
This time Windows reported the possible memory leak after being logged in for apprx 8m03s and when I tabbed out it dropped to what I expected it to be. Now that I tabbed in again it's back on track with a steady increase.

This is getting weirder. Today I logged in to update skillqueue, and for good measure I checked the memory, which did not have the same steady increase as before.
It's really weird, but it means I have to check the memory before I join fleets.

If you CCP guys can help me, please do. I can't shoot goons with my current memory problems.

Please try if your problems might be related to the problems discussed in this thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=310583
The workarounds there might also help in your case.
