*To support covert ops groups / corps,

Though you would have to use it often otherwise it will decay over time / or other players can see it and shoot it.

I think one of the mobile depots is pretty hard to probe down so similar to this.

Plus, in a "shadow gang" you should have a blockade runner with you to carry extra fuel, bomb, ammo, and collect loot as you go.
