PvE in this game is Not Fun.

The PvE in this game is Not Fun. For most (normal) people, it is straight up chore to do any sort of ratting or missioning, and the only thing that makes it tolerable is bullshitting on voicechat with other people that are doing it with you. I humbly request that CCP do something to make the PvE in E.v.E. entertaining/engrossing/interesting and at least vaguely tolerable.

I've not played a single mmo where the PvE was fun.

While I agree that PVE in this game is utter horse ****, there is a list of things that CCP need to look at first thats so long it cant see PVE content on a clear day.

EVE was never build to be a PVE game, it's an after thought. If you want a theme park ride then there are other games to consider.

In my experience everything can be fun or terrible alike depending on the dosage. I do not do a awful lot of PVE, but when I do, I do it in low sec. That way it is fun because of the constant need for awareness. Check d-scan, check local....the bigger the challenge the more fun the game grants you...

This.

There is no PvE fun that lasts forever. After the initial excitment you master the AI and everything becomes highly predictable, therefore, boring.

Fighting NPCs was never that fun to me. But soloing an epic mission arc such as Wildfire is a challenge, in a T1 BS at least. You have to play it kind of like a chess game to win. I could see why my old corp mates were so into soloing higher level missions-- it takes thinking in your ship fits and some tactical planning in your execution.

The only fun PVE I ever had was in AI Wars.

PVE can be pretty fun, especially if ur in a group doing the harder sites (8/10, 10/10s, lvl 5 missions, and the like) Yer u can solo em but more fun in a fleet with voice coms.

Just to further strengthen our point, I've never seen any MMO that had fun pve content that could keep my attention for more than 30 minutes.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Wildfire was indeed an interesting challenge. But I gave up on the Amarr Epic Arc on the last mission, which would have involved facing around 20 waves of ships.

That kind of non-challenging grind is just not worth doing. At all.

I hear you Krixtal. That's too long of a grind for one continuous session. There needs to be a pause button. "Crap, I did 10 of 20 waves, and now I have to log. All 20 waves will have respawned when I'm on again tomorrow."

Incursions and sleeper sites can be fun due to the increased risk/reward, similar thing with high level complexes. Though I agree doing L4s in highsec day in and day out must be mind numbing, it's a wonder why/how so many do it.

Well... that's the point.
PvE isn't supposed to be fun. It's just a small part of the game
that's not actually important, as you can observe.

It keeps cash cows ingame and helps PvPers make money.

That's it.

People do L4's when they have limited gameplay time, which does not allow them to jump into something like incursions.
For incursions, you need a minimum of a 2 hour block of time where you are at the keyboard and sharp. That includes the typical 30 minutes to migrate your ships from one incursion constellation to the next one. Even if you are in the active constellation, may communities have wait lists to get into fleets, or take time to form a fleet.
And if you bail after just 30 minutes in a fleet, the FC will take a dim view of you in the long run.

So yeah, L4's are a necessity for many people.
And there also the people that simply don't have the skills, ISK, or inclination for high end ship play with others.

PvE is fun for some people

I remember the first time I entered a dungeon in Ultima Online, deceit I believe, the atmosphere made it enjoyable, and running into lich lords & player killers made it scary.

In most mmorpgs boss fights have some kind of mechanics to them, and this makes pve more challenging for some people, but its meh I can take it or leave it in EvE. EvE is a space game with terrible physics, submarines in space, it is kind of difficult to make the boss fights interesting.

If CCP incorporated DUST into the EvE client then we could have ground based pve.
