a bit of a nerco but basically esculation rates went from at least 1 a day for me to 1 a week. Considering this is over 5 accounts thats a pretty significant drop.

My assumption is that CCP slows down the rate at which you get them to help control the supply of things to the market. Considering each site has a 1/10 chance of doing so.

Granted i just could be on a **** streak of not getting them. Considering on average i run 50 anamolies a day i should still be spawning at least 1 a day.

I am up to 260 gurista rally points with only 2 escalations. I do however believe different anomolies have different escalation rates though, and you have to weigh the rate against the time taken - unfortunately for 1% events, it takes waaaay to long to get an estimate.

I doubt CCP actively changes them in response to market supply of stuff. They are happy to let stuff tank or grow unbound for years.

Considering the loot aspect and how much gets moved in and out of jita. I figure that each individual group has its own RNG.
So if 10000 in 200 systems gurista/sansha sites get run a day; and 100-200 random X-Type drops. Lets say after an X-Type drop is completed. It spawns in another system. You have a 0.5% chance of hitting that magical number if 200 people in 200 systems are running a site of the same "grade" at the same time. Now, lets say only 3 X-Type drops are spawned at a time. Now factor in empty systems in null that get maybe 3 jumps. Lets say it gets a traffic of 10 people. You have 10 chances for that site to be used to respawn somewhere closer to you.

The sites just despawn when you finish them, randomly roll up one of any of the systems that they are eligible for and then spawn there. They have a loot -table- ie loot table says "this item x % chance to drop". They are no more sophisticated than that, which means you do very occasionally get crazy drops - like a faction item, 3 deadspace modules and a bpc.

Now if only 5000 in 100 Angel/BR/Serp sites get run a day with 50-100 random X-Type drops. You still have the same percentages as above. Now though you more reasonable chances to nab it.

** All numbers are made up to give a train for my thought on how it works. I have not seen (nor looked into) the mechanics of Complexes outside of how to not die, and how it works to an RNG. I am not a fan of risk+time in the aspect of valuing money being made in space and ignoring my market orders, as marketing is my main isk faucet. Everything else is just something different then staring at regional markets, forum sell orders, stats and graphs. So, when I Mission/Rat/Site run/Explore. I generally just do it. ^^

It just doesn't work that way. What population does is affect various strategies for finding the signatures.
