I want to get my feet wet with pvp encounters. I'm limited to fits because of low sp (3 days old player)
Finished the Military and Advanced Mil career training, so thought I would share a fit I pieced together.
Any advice would be helpful. Even tell me if it sucks ass. Big smile

[Atron, Titus Marrs Edition]
Damage Control I
Magnetic Field Stabilizer I
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

Status Webifier I
Warp Disrupter I
Civilian Afterburner

150mm Railgun
150mm Railgun
150mm Railgun
[empty high slot]

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints I

From the training I've learned so far, my thoughts are to use the speed of the ship to get within 10 km of target. web it, disrupt and shoot.

There are lots of different ways to fit a ship, so this isnt the gospel, but here would be my suggestion: Swap the warp disruptor for a scram, the civilian ab for a normal AB and the Low Friction Nozzle Joint for a capacitor control circuit or semiconductor memory cell (or whatever the other capacitor one is) and you have a decent fit. Set keep at range to 6000-7000ish, web, scram and shoot and you have a decent "scram range kiter." Against other frigates with short range guns, and missiles keep at range - dont orbit. For bigger ships, or other frigates with long range guns, orbit - small rails will have better tracking (pretty sure that is the case - double check me though). Generally you would want a scram with an AB fit and kite at the edge of scram range (7-9000ish). With MWD fits you can use a scram or disruptor, depending on what you want to do.

The low friction nozzle joint my not be wise in this situation because you have fit an armor tank, and the LFNJ reduces armor amount as its penalty. Its typically used on shield fits. A capacitor rig would work better.

Also - if you have fitting issues - dropping the 150s to 125s would be ok.

You now know everything I do about frigate pvp - which is very little.

Also - train the overheating skill once you have your other basics finished. Its excellent in pvp.

If you want a good place to find frigate pvp, I would suggest Faction Warfare Novice plexes. Go to a active system, sit inside a novice and wait. Someone will come. Hopefully solo. You can make some good isk while you are waiting. It is your best chance of getting a one on one without getting blobbed. You will still get blobbed - but less often. You will die alot. That is ok. Buy 20 of these suckers and pop them all. Good luck.

that is the most competent fit that I have ever seen from a 3-day old player. Does the current new player experience actually teach people how to fit ships these days?

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

It didn't really tell me how to fit it like this. It progresses in training missions, adding a piece at time and showing how they are used. Explains situations you would use them, and which components are better then others. But pretty much, It was the training missions and me doing some research on this ship they gave me. The exams at the end of the career training lets you test it all out, to see what you learned.

Thanks for this information. Thermodynamics is on my list. I'm sure I'm going to get spanked by others who can overheat already!

Wait... you are three days old, and that is the fit you came up with?

Hot damn- I am impressed. Don't listen to these fools, you are on the right track for creating a great kiting atron fit. Here is what I would change however:

150mm railgun 1
150mm railgun 1
150mm railgun 1

Limited 1mn MIcrowarpdrive
Stasis web I
warp Disruptor I

basic Magnetic Field Stab
Damage Control I
Basic Tracking Enhancer

Small Processor Overclocking Unit
SMall hybrid Locus Coordinator
Small ancillary current router

The idea is, stay out of scram range, and kite. Use the web defensively, and good luck :)

Thanks, I will give this a try too.
I was thinking if I keep at range .. which would be out of their scram range.. hopefully with my ship being smaller and faster.. that they can't sneak under and in range to get me. But I dont know all the mechanics of the game yet. If someones coming at me to get in range, and i set to stay at range...what determines who is successful?

So clicking the keep at range or orbit buttons. Is not going to give you the reults that you want. I feel that for the most part you should worry about manual piloting. Over heating your web and MWD are going to help out a ton at allowing you to keep out of scram range. However there are ships that are going to be able to kill your poorly skilled, and poorly fit atron with ease. (however once you do get better skills, I can give you a more extreme kiting fit- because the rail atron is a really good ship.)

Ships you should avoid:

Dare Devil
Dramiel
Slicer
All Assault Frigs

Also be wary of kiting T1 ships, that either use tracking disruptors (Which will heavily decrease your gun range) or sensor damps- which will decrease your targeting range. Outside of that, and provided that you don't **** up your piloting, and get scrammed- you should be able to kill or run from just about anything.

I've been fooling around with the Atron a lot in low sec lately. With reasonable skills and no links that mwd fit easily goes over 3.5k m/s which out tracks its own 150's. Try for the blaster fit. It delivers a ridiculous amount of dps for an attack frig and makes for the best suicide, err I mean, hero tackle I have ever flown.

With top notch fitting skills you can get a dual-prop tankless fit that is a god's send for small gangs. Tackle really is where this ship shines. If you get bored of losing them look up garviel's rail fit incursus. That thing is a beast.

I'm not even going to bother giving more advice than that. You sir are doing it right. Have fun out there.

I looked up his fit and tactics to plink away at 7 km with it. wow, he has killed a lot of people with it. Shocked
