Hello everyone,

I recently became the maintainer for the Eve Online Wine Portal (WineHQ link)

I am planning on going through this forum to update the portal and help others to have a smooth installation and patching experience.

However I also need your help. If you see anything in the portal that needs an update or any extra steps you had to take to address issues and improve your experience please let me know.

I especially need some help for the FreeBSD section since I don't run any BSD based distros.

Thanks.

Here is a start for FreeBSD.

For Ubuntu/Debian systems I recommend you start out with Kismeteers excellent Howto. He/She has done a great job on keeping that one updated.
For other distributions it's usually the exact same steps as in Kismeteers thread except the installation of wine and winetricks.

That should already cover most of the issues, there might be some very rare issues for other distributions, but I can't really recall any. People that use other distributions than Ubuntu also tend to know how to solve their specific issues so they tend to pop up less often.

There used to be an issue with https websites not loading in the ingame browser (Error Code: -202 I believe?), but supposedly that was solved in the 1.7.5 build of Wine. For me (Arch Linux 64bit) however it still doesn't work (Error Code: -9), but I haven't done much to figure out what is wrong. The awesomium patch supposedly fixes https websites in the ingame browser, but it requires people to compile wine by themselves. AFAIK that patch also makes the launcher work "flawlessly".

I hope this already helps you out somewhat.
