The first time I put "o/" in Dodixie local and got about 16 responses from people I realised I had met and befriended over 3 years of EVE. Was pretty humbling to realise that not everyone is just a bunch of pixels on a screen.

Would still rob them though. Twisted

I would say that a few turning points in an EVE career would be...

(a) obtaining the ability to warp cloaked

(b) the eventual grind to a capital

(c) first PVP kill

What else?

EVe has so many turning points, it should be called "TuriningPoints Online" lol.

Soo many, like crossing that income barrier after saving up enoough isk to but my 1st Navy Raven (back in later early 2008, nowadays I know it's not much, but back then it was like "this damn ship makes isk rain from the sky!" lol).

My 1st pvp death (rifter vs Brutix in low sec, brutix pilot gave me enough isk for a new rifter lol, the brutix looked so big and scary, i went and trained for it.)

My 1st pvp roam (with a corp mate and some BoB friends of his, my 1st null sec death was in a bruitx killed by an IRC fleet that had a carrier, it was also my 1st time seeing a capital ship lol). I gort on like 4 kill mails and though I was the BOSS for the next few hours lol till someone explained to me how easy it was to get on a kill mail....

And on and on. If I had to name THE turning point, it woudl be Faction Warfare. I was there on day one and it was pretty much pvp on demand. No SP required, no handing someone your API, cheap ships welcomed etc. it really lowered the barrier into pvp and null sec, null groups back then would recruit straight out of FW.

The major turning point in my EVE life came when I returned from my Iraq deployment in late 2006. I could not recover my old toon, so I made Garamonde, and returned to EVE.
Not wanting to go back to my former carebear ways, I sought to become a PvP toon. I got used to throwing my ship at hostile players with M3 Corp (Darth Ninjabadger and Exphexis, FTW!), and Njalli showed me the hard way, that bigger isn't always better. Then I met Gamertrav and HandofSatan, who taught me how to properly fit a ship and not get dead... brought me into my first nullsec PvP experiences, and I learned a lot from them.
When I decided that I needed to stop depending on them, I broke away, and forged my own path. Now, I feel like I'm finally actually on my way.

One day, I am going to become "the new Kil2". I promise it.

When our highsec indi corp got wardecced and our CEO ordered us to stay docked and play a different game for a week until the war is over.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

That was the only turning point I can ever imagine, everything after it happened because of it!

- joining a random corp that searched for members in the local channel near the Lvl 1 epic arc
- attending a frig free-for-all tournament that this corp planned
- upgrading my trial account to a proper one (after I tried EVE out 3 times before)

That corp doesnt exist anymore, but I guess the moment where you learn that EVE is no fun unless you get into a fun corp is the biggest turning point

Yep, this was my first goal, to play for free. It feels good knowing that I'm doing something right =)

Other turning points were:

my first bil (seemed the hardest one to make, all those years ago)

The main turning point for me was when I realised that flying around high sec carelessly in a shiny Tengu was dangerous stuff. A few tornadoes warped in on me while I was running a 4/10. It made me reconsider my goals, and I sold my Tengu and moved to low sec instead lol.
