I think the only reasonable fix for the phoenix is to allow it to equip capitol hybrid weapons, or to you know finally fix missiles.

The phoenix is the biggest and best scan boat in the game. It also excels at rolling wormholes!

Some ships have to suck so that we can blow them up and laugh at the pilots for flying them. It's the natural order of things.

This just goes in lock-step with one of the many facts of New Eden.
Caldari are typically superior to Gallente at one thing, and one thing only: dying. Phoenix is just the most glaring personification of this empirical truth.

People actually attempt to fly a Phoenix?!?!

I can think of at least...200 other ways to waste that much SP.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Phoenix does need hybrid turrets.

I'd still be awful. But not quite as awful.

The Phoenix is fine. Citadel Torpedoes are what's wrong.

the pheonix is one of the best pos bashing ships in the game. it gets the highest volley amount out of any dread for damage. and they can get some pretty beastly tanks as well.

yeah, was running some fun with some old buddies in low a week back, figured out, the Phoenix is technically where a capital/dread should be. its tanky as all ****, has a super heavy amount of damage, but absolutely no way to apply it to much fo anything. i mean, the phoenix is literally the only capital that actually NEEDS a "support fleet" of anything besides 200 other identical capitals.

Speaking as a former phoenix owner - highest volley amount? BS. You've never seen the volley a Moros can dish out. 70 to 80k with a Phoenix compared to - 80-150k per volley from a Moros? Besides, the Phoenix volley happens every 15-20 secs, as opposed to the 5 sec volley of hybrid ships. So when you have a mediocre volley with a huge cycle time, what does that do to your DPS? Makes it embarrassingly small, for one thing.

No, I will side with the people who say the phoenix absolutely sucks as a damage dealer. On the other hand, I'm not complaining really. Someone has to suck. The tank can be made ok but it's cap unstable, so it's just a matter of time. Put it this way, if you're in a phoenix, expect to be primaried. And if the tower has gunners and neut batteries, expect to die.

I see my phoenix as just a large drake, with about the same DPS...

Weell… 60k:ish with blasters, ×1.5 for a high-quality hit or ×3 for a wrecking hit = 90k and 180k, respectively. Calling it the norm is a bit misleading, though.
