Adding the ability to buy sec status is part of the issue...

I dont know if I agree with the OP, although I dont disagree either. I think a better solution though is to increase security status hit, and then actually BAN them from hi-sec. If you are -5 or below lets say, you cannot jump through into hi-sec at all. Period.

You also cannot buy security tags so gotta work in low-sec to redeem yourself.

This makes people pick their ganking targets, people will still gank a 5 billion cargo holding freighter because by the time their sec status is too low, they've done that 5 times making 2.5 billion each. Id sit in low grinding standings for a few hours for that, as would most gankers.

This would be too disruptive for too many people. Most of my alliance has a -10 sec status. And even if - I have to admit - some earned that sec status by suicide ganking, not all of us did (I didn't, for instance) but by regular pvp. The thing is, that we often need to fly through 2-3 jumps of highsec to get where we want to, so being totally banned from highsec would really suck.

I told you: mission fits not fits designed vs gankers. If you are unable to produce a mission fit try battleclinic :) And show me one that has DCU and not damage modules - BCU for the Golem.

On a few occasions that I've ganked a mission boat with a few alts, none had a DCU fitted. You know why? Because I couldn't have killed them and therefore moved onto the ones less aware of reality! You dumbass.

Also, omni tanked ships were skipped in favour of ones with glaring resist holes. I guess this is all too complex.

If hostiles warp in they will be quite a ways from you in cases where they have to use the acceleration gate (yes? no?...haven't scanned anyone down in a mission before). .

confirming missions will hang you up at the gate.

er wait .. you know ... I don't know about probing someone down ... I know trying to warp to a fleet member 2 rooms in means I have to go thru the gates, or if I bm a spot in a mission room, the gates will stop me.

It doesnt matter if you probe someone down or warp to fleet member result will be the same: you'll land on beacon of 1st pocket and will have to jump all those gates to get to target/fleet member. This produces some rare LOL moments when fleet of catalysts lands in the middle of unstable gas cloud of L4 Recon (3/3): even if all waves fired already - every new ship warping in will produce additional wave of damage, while you are watching all this on dscan from safety of 2nd pocket.

reducing the chances per system security status might help a little with missioners and miners
but in turn if you raise the chances the lower the status, it would also help gankers in low sec
maybe that's a good trade off!

I suicide gank for the lulz. I don't give a **** about money. Its my revenge against the ignorant classless culture who seem to rule everything in America. I started out as a miner too, but when I heard about ganking and how easy it was I switched to mission running which at least requires planning to setup a gank and got some pvp experience too.

I'm a nerd and I still get treated like **** in real life, so in turn I will treat the WOW and COD kiddies like **** when they come to my game.

Hello OP

Sorry I am kind of bumping this up now but only found it today and I am new to the game and I am a pirate.

So from my point of view (New player and a pirate) of your problem.

Your solutions:
1. It introduces a new profession and lets players punish the Suicide Gankers in way friendly with EVE lore. It also makes being in the same Corporation important for the Suicide Gankers if they want to be able to defend themselves properly - and if they are in the same corporation people can declare war if they feel like it.
2. Removing KM`s for ganks.
3. Have CONCORD respond faster if the Victim has a high Security Status.
4. -5 Sec Status gets you banned from 0.5+ systems
5. Suicide Ganking should also cause a faction loss

My 2 isk:

1. It introduces a new profession and lets players punish the Suicide Gankers in way friendly with EVE lore. It also makes being in the same Corporation important for the Suicide Gankers if they want to be able to defend themselves properly - and if they are in the same corporation people can declare war if they feel like it.

In this you say that all can shoot you in high sec and you think that it would be amazing for people to do so?

Well at -5 and below all can shoot you no matter where you are. Null, low sec and High. The game mechanic is there for you and in place today as we speak. What is not happening is we choose to not come to high sec unless it is to shoot you again. If you feel that we have wronged you in any way shape or form please find set pirate corp/corps and come to low sec and shoot back at us.

The game mechanic allows this for your pleasure and our own and it boils down to who knows the system better and who can out smart each other. So good luck with that one.

2. Removing KM`s for ganks.

If you think that we care about the killmails then well you actually mistaken about what we gank you for. We do it for profit and most importantly to also get our new pilots like myself to -10 faster. So in a way you are providing us the new pilots to the pirate corps a way to get to the -10 status faster and I thank each and every pilot who has been ganked in high sec for their service to the up and coming pirates of tomorrow.

Making profit is a bonus to us so keep buying expensive modules so that we can keep doing it. We poor most of the time so every little helps.

3. Have CONCORD respond faster if the Victim has a high Security Status.

This one is a bit silly because if you are there to deliver us a service to get us to -10 faster and CONCORD respond faster it will only mean we will bring more ships and kill you faster. So be thankful that CONCORD take so long and that you dont loose your ship to 20-30 new pilots but only 10-15.

4. -5 Sec Status gets you banned from 0.5+ systems

I am -9 and can not go into 0.5+ now so I am not sure what more you want and as I stated above we just choose not to go into High sec.

5. Suicide Ganking should also cause a faction loss

I am a pirate that no faction likes. Making them hate me more is a positive to me and not a negative. The more people hate me the more they speak of me. The more they speak of me the bigger my legend as a Pirate will become. I want people to fear my name when I jump into system.

We all about the fear factor here in Low sec.

So to end off my answer to your post.

Stop looking at what we doing to you but more about how you are helping the future pirates coming up the ranks. We have just recently recruited new pilots of piracy that need -10 status so please make sure in the new year you help us out by flying your most expensive ships to help them out with loot.

See you soon

Oh for God's sake....

1. Train to be able to overheat.
2. Carry nanite paste with you too.
3. If you are going for a ranged fit, use a MJD.
4. Toss a DCU in the lows to help buff your tank.
5. Scan local every now and then, the bad guys will often show up in local.
6. Set your overview correctly (even have several, and switch between them it takes less than a second).
7. Don't sit near the warp in beacon in each pocket (the MJD comes in damn handy here BTW).
8. Fit T2 modules instead of faction/officer modules to make you look less tasty.

Advanced tactics: Have an overview tab set up that you can quickly switch too THAT INCLUDES COMBAT PROBES. Periodically switch to that tab and hit d-scan. If you see combat probes at the very least become far more alert, better choice GTFO.

Do the above and you'll find that and you make ganking you quite a bit harder.

And for pitty's sake stop calling this griefing. If CCP did not consider the burn Jita events griefing they are almost surely not going to consider ganking ratters griefing.

Edit: "Elite" tactics: If you see combat probes out, dock up, strip out some non-tank modules and add more tank. Strip out the big guns/missiles and put one smaller faster tracking/firing weaponry. Go back to your mission and hope the bastards come to you. Have the right overview chosen. When they come to you, overheat. When they start shooting...slaughter them.

For example using Tom Dirtdiver's rattlesnake fit back in post #404 use T2 shield mods and with overheating you'll have a tank with an EHP of over 200K and a regen well north of 850. Using rapid light missile launcher IIs your DPS with overheating and using hobgoblins will be around 300, considering you'll have 34ish or so seconds before Concord kills them all, you'll have time to shoot a few of them and score some kills.

Or continue missioning away blindly and come back here to the forums when you are ganked and cry and we'll all point and do a Nelson laugh.
