Would you pay for an Expansion?

Now going by the definition of the word expansion, it would seem to me that all these free "expansions" are nothing but revamps.

There have been a few actual expansions but mostly we see just revamps..
I think CCP needs to come out with an real expansion that opens up new parts of space. adds a new class of ship.
And a new types of PVE/PVP content..

Everyone will whine about something.

It wasn't so long ago that the big complaint was that CCP kept coming out with all of these new things and ships that people were complaining that things were balanced (which was very valid at the time). As a result, CCP have been going through their Tiericide process while bringing out smaller and fewer big changes (which, by the way, I would consider the new deployable structures to be pretty big, by the way).

Let them finish the Tiericide project to get what we already have balanced, then we can go back to the actual "expansions."

More importantly, though, your poll is lacking a critical 'Checkbox' vote. For shame.

I would pay for expansion if I wouldn't have to pay for subscription. But if I wouldn't have to pay for subscription probably I would have to grind for XP and gold coins and still lose race against sugar pumped 11 year olds.

Nope.

Hell, I scoff at my other MMO peers who play WoW and other titles that make you buy the expansion on top of the sub fees.

CCP will NEVER require you to pay for an expansion. They'd have to be incredibly stupid to believe that the vast majority of the playerbase would pay an expansion fee on top of a subscription fee. And because of the nature of EVE, CCP cannot make expansions optional. So people would either have the choice of paying for an expansion on top of their subscription fees, or they won't be able to play anymore regardless of subscription fees. Very few people would be willing to do this I think, no matter how stellar the expansion turns out to be.

Well, I cant see expansions ever happening in the first place.

Why? Well, how would that work in a game where the market is free, nothing is bind on pickup and no zone is unreachable?

What would that expansion contain?

My interests include but are not limited to throwing rocks at bee hives.

I don't see why CCP can't do what Chris Roberts is doing. Seems to work for him.

It depends on such a lot of things. So actually the only easy answer would be no.

Easy is convenient. So no it is.

Not very EVE like, I know Twisted.

Probably. I pay for expansions in other games which are essentially reskinned zones from earlier in the game, so why not pay for reskinned features in eve?

Given the vast amounts of money they wasted on Incarna, where we got a room and melted video cards. Would you honestly trust them not to just blow the money a second time?

As to would I pay for expansions: No, not with what they have called an expansion for the last 2 years.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

no, but it's not because of CCP/content or anything but it would be pretty bad I hate paying for expansions ALONG with a subscription even if it was the mother of all expansions, tbh I even think 15$ is pretty cheap for a game like this which I enjoy a lot, hell I payed way more in f2p games for some shinies that didn't even affect my gameplay.

If they completely change their definition of expansion from "bugfix patch with a fancy name" to "adds new content to the game" then yes, I would.
Most minecraft patches add more content than CCPs "expansions" and I seriously doubt that this is going to change Big smile
