SomerBlinks non-RMT RL earnings

A corp of 57 chars of which looking and running checks on via EVE WHO (EVE WHO should have got some free stuff too) there start up dates and links via other corps ie Market alliance seem that there pretty much full of alts. There losses pretty much show just cyno alts.

So on the run down a couple of questions I would like to throw in the pot.

1. Who is SOMER run by and are they just alts of CCP. Im only pointing this out as they are not replying to any of the forums like the devs to defend themselves. Then again they maybe like the devs and have more important things to do than speak to us game players.
2. With the Ishkone giveaway how did CCP obtain the correct members who are actually active in game as they have stated this was rewarded to active gamers in EvE. Also how the hell did they get CCP Guards corpse to throw in with a blink.
3. On the part of the RMT does CCP have direct contact with SOMER on how they are running the show. And do they have access to these figures of how much RL money SOMER are gaining due to CCPs game.


With these 3 questions in mind in my own mind Im starting to think SOMER is actually run by CCP alts and is another way of generating isk. We all know CCP has alts that are running around in game with nobody knowing who or where they are.


BTW this is only an assumption Big smile


1) They're alts of normal players, they hire new employees once in a while even.
2) I think they consulted one of the top guys in SOMER and asked them who deserved them most
2b) CCP does roamings once in a while and they get podded. CCP corpses aren't that uncommon
3) I doubt they have as SOMER gets its money from the GTC resellers not CCP itself.


I don't like the situation but so much :tinfoil: is a bit too much.

This SOMER-rage has been going on for quite a while now. Anyone hear anything from CCP at all, in anyway shape or form?

I think people are starting to get frustrated at the lack of a response, and are making up their own SOMER versions just to make a point. When they are quickly blocked/locked/banned, they just point at SOMER and go but they're allowed, why not me?!

It's a very interesting point.

Why doesn't someone just set up a competitor blink site and drive somer out of business if it bothers you so much. The house edge on somerblink is quite high, you could just bring it way down and poach somer's customers. It's obvious CCP is not doing to do anything.

CCP got fooled & used by SomerBlink and now CCP does not want to admit it.

Or SomerBlink is passing some of that RMT profits back to someone in CCP.

Because it is much easier to complain about it than to actually do something constructive. Free enterprise sounds like a great idea.

My question would be is there a real life connection between Blink and the powers that be at CCP. Is one umwashed hand washing the other?

My view is this.

Somerblink has been running for nearly 4 years now.

I suspect early on when Somerblink was created CCP had a look, possibly even a chat with the guys at Somer and deemed it to be fine.

Many years later all hell broke lose because CCP decided to be dumb and re-introduce the golden magnet.

Nothing to do with Somer.

Is Somer bad, no.

If anything you could say it might persuade people to purchase plex from a authorised GTC seller then use a RMT Site which is great as its more money into CCP's pocket.

What Katarina Reid is doing is also great as it helps generate more GTC sales.

The more players doing this the better as gives people more incentive to buy GTC's from authorised sellers then use RMT Sites.

For me that is good.

You can scream RMT as much as you like but ultimately it is CCP who decides what constitutes RMT, not me, not you, but CCP.

I may not like CCP's habit of just copying and pasting the TOS and then closing a thread or banning somebody without explaining how what they have done pertains to what they have copied and pasted but that is my tough luck.

I can voice my opinion and then decide to either keep playing or quit.

Others will try and equate Somer with a real life casino, others will go tinfoil mad and suggest that its a giant conspiracy that rivals who shot JFK, good luck to them.

At the end of the day if Somerblink and Katerina Ried and hopefully many others to come in the future continue to come up with schemes that incentivised people to purchase GTC's from authorised sellers instead of using RMT Sites, how is this bad?
