Hmmm... just noticed something. Have you guys ever seen a player or poster in the forums with a "partner" tag? I just noticed it in the source code of the CSS stylesheet in these forums.

I think one of the nVidia guys was posting once with the partner tag maybe I have a hazy memory of something but not really sure on what.

EDIT: Can search for i.e. CSM as well as the dev and gm using https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=search&csmbadge=1 but partnerbadge atleast doesn't work (neither does ISD) no idea if its not used or defined under something else.

yep, that's only the extremely conservative estimate. i wouldn't be surprised if the real number is closer to $500k.

not that i have a problem with that... as long as everyone else is free to do the same.

at this point it's going to take more than words if CCP really wants to fix this. i'm personally sick and tired of them locking threads, editing/deleting posts, and generally shilling for a corp. it's very unprofessional.


The $135,000 figure is just what SOMERblink made when they were with Shattered Crystal (29 September 2010 - 9 May 2013). It does not include any figures since SOMER made the switch to Markee Dragon. That appears to have been on 9 May.

They had bove deals running parallel for quite some time, they left shattered crystal after markee started giving them better margins while Shattered did not. As far as I can remember the Markee link had always had more bonus credits.

CCP would have to be mad to change their mind on this. Especially since everyone apart from Somer already seems to have conformed to their demands. On the other hand, it seems a bit strange that CCP hasn't made any public announcement on this issue yet, despite contacting the resellers. Perhaps they are open to revisiting the topic. I wonder how much power Markeedragon wields over them.


CCP would also have to be mad to promote and sponsor anyone who does anything resembling "illegal" RMT ;-) It could go either way at the moment. Who knows, CCP may even make Somer an official partner. It's not like CCP have never made bad decisions now is it?

I am happy that this is resolved, but I am disappointed that it came before I could launch my competing service, Bummer Stink.

They shut down Somers competition and now use the 10 day deadline to come up with something that allows Somer to continue his "community service". (Make him a partner or whatever shaddy stuff they come up with)

This is far from over.

Reliability is totally outta the window. When there is a tiny exploit of any sort, WHAM! It is insta threats, ninja bans, nerf-bat whams. But this extended parody has broken any little trust that there is.

When we sat together at the charity dinner you told me how the monocle incident impacted you and you basically said that you felt you hadn't really had your pulse on what the player's wanted. In a way, what you said to me, was that as the CEO you need to take things that upset your players seriously, even if on the surface they seem silly.

I interpreted that further to be a statement of how unique EVE players are. There are so many checkpoints on the way to playing this game, so many points where players can self select out that each voice must be taken seriously. The market base is just too small to dismiss anyone. I mean think about who plays eve. To play eve someone:

1) needs to want to play a space MMO.
2) needs to want to pay a monthly subscription for a space MMO.
3) needs to want to pay a monthly subscription for a TEN YEAR OLD space MMO.
4) needs to want to pay a monthly subscription for a ten year old space MMO that is hard.
5) needs to want to pay a monthly subscription for a ten year old space MMO that is hard and requires work to generate content.
6) Lastly, they need to want to pay a monthly subscription for a ten year old space MMO that is hard, requires work to generate content AND is notoriously ruthless.

It's a pretty select bunch you arrive at once people pass all of those check points. A loyal group and a group willing to pay out big time, but also not a group that will tolerate any foolishness. Your player base is populated by doctors, lawyers, accountants, professors, coaches, businessmen, programmers, engineers and game designers, not to mention countless military personnel. You have a player base of high functioning, intelligent and observant people who are, as you know from hiring them, more than capable of working for your company.

NONE of them, however, not one - is about to pay a monthly subscription for a ten year old space MMO that is hard, requires work to generate content, and is notoriously ruthless BUT...

also happens to be one where the devs clearly violate the barrier between player and dev/designer/judge and in doing so defend it with ridiculous statements about "trust" that over a dozen of your players were able to debunk in less than 6 hours - and we aren't even being payed to do this.

So it insults our intelligence when you at CCP go silent on this. It's bad crisis management, it's bad customer service, and it does nothing to help you or the player base. I have been told that this may be how "things are done" in Iceland. That's fine, but your customers are not primarily Icelandic, and so you need to learn to do business in a way that suits THEM.

Others have posted your words from your blog after monoclegate, and I remember what you said to me at the charity dinner. And now, I say this as someone who genuinely cares about what happens to EVE and CCP: those words are hollow right now, they are just words. If you meant them - you will speak out and let people know what's going on.
