I think its worse when you have a certain entity paying PLEX to people, to live stream other games, to produce content / blog posts on other games ...

Get Paid PLEX to write about LOL, WOT, SC etc ?


Using ingame PLEX / currency to fuel content generation for other video games ... with AD based monitization ...

Does anyone know if the monikers CCP Somer or CCP Blink are taken yet? Because Somer Blink might be needing a new job soon and I bet that he could get some great resume references based on CCP employees' statements in the Eve spotlight thread.

Maybe because regardless of whether Somer has done something wrong or not its become for the most part a pitiful witchhunt with probably people who've lost ISK to Somer jumping on the bandwagon while detracting from the real issue that is the application of the EULA.

i've lost 0 isk to Somer. perhaps the reason i'm peeved is because it's now blatantly obvious that Somer is exempt from rules that apply to everyone else.

Markeedragon has not told Blink to stop yet - obviously.

Do the maths, and follow the money. If Somer is making $7500 a month from an 8% cut - Markeedragon is making $100,000 a month. Stalling for the whole 10 days - that's $33,000.

Although obviously Markeedragon is trying to talk CCP out of this at the moment, as the Somer deal gives him an edge over the other resellers. Take that edge away, and the players buying through Blink are just as likely to go and support a real community site elsewhere, who are possibly using a different reseller. And in the longer term that's costing Markeedragon a lot of real $$$.

I don't think the maths there are quite right. Somer isn't getting 8% of Markeedragon's cut but 8% of the total sale price of the card. The majority of the rest of the money will go to CCP, not Markeedragon.

It sounds like he got the letter. He has 10 days to stop somer doesn't have to give the letter to somer just cant use somer if the blink credits are still given. Seem like he wants to use the whole 10 day tho:(

I am wondering whether this is the decision we will not like that Trebor was referring too.

CCP stopping everyone but Somer. If they have with so many good games coming out in the next 12 months, good luck to them, may they enjoy their unemployment benifits.

Hell the dog fighting module for SC is due out in December, Elite is due out March ish, SC will be in full Beta about this time next year, plus all the other cool space games coming out.

If anyone thinks Somer only made $135k via their RMT scheme, those folks are going to be in for a doozy of a wake-up when the details surrounding Somer's and CCPs relationship are fully exposed, and the real numbers come out. CCP is trying as hard as they can to prevent that of course, but as has already been said, you can't put the genie back in the bottle.

It will be amusing to see what kind of weasel-word nonsense CCP comes up with to feed the CSM so they can in turn try to proselytize that story to the players.

Fair enough, but insert the correct numbers and the principle is still there.

yep, that's only the extremely conservative estimate. i wouldn't be surprised if the real number is closer to $500k.

not that i have a problem with that... as long as everyone else is free to do the same.

at this point it's going to take more than words if CCP really wants to fix this. i'm personally sick and tired of them locking threads, editing/deleting posts, and generally shilling for a corp. it's very unprofessional.

Not really looked into it too much so I might be well wide of the mark but I think it depends a bit how much is covered by people buying in with ingame ISK compared to people only playing via referral credit - if a significant number of players have moved to only playing using their GTC credit then Somer will have to redirect a fair chunk of the money they are getting towards buying ISK or items ingame for the prizes - in which case the real money they made will be a bit lower.

The $135,000 figure is just what SOMERblink made when they were with Shattered Crystal (29 September 2010 - 9 May 2013). It does not include any figures since SOMER made the switch to Markee Dragon. That appears to have been on 9 May.
