So, Rubicon and FW... thoughts?

Goooooood morning warfare and tactics.

With the new update rolling out very soon I and I am sure many of you are interested on it's impact on faction warfare. Changes to EAFs, Inty's, new plex capable cloaky death ships and perhaps the secret addition to all our LP stores of a refreshing beverage. MMMmmm Rubicon.

What are your thoughts on the impact these and the rest will make? I for one will expect to see many EAFs soloing for uncontested LP farming, SOE ships cloaked up ready to surprise the rest and inty pilot's cackling as they land in front of the already rare battleships to point them for their frigate horde comrades.

Plexes create a unique engagement environment in EVE. Personally as a solo/small gang pilot I feel that the major impacts to me are that BS will be even more rare now in small gang environments and while you always had a careful eye out for cloaky surprises that empty small plex with 1 unlocated WT in local just got a lot more interesting.

Oh and EAFs... they will blot out the sun till it all settles out again.

Your thoughts?

I'm stocking up on beam Coercers, Rail Cats and Corms, and even Arty Thrashers. I'm also debating the future Heretic for small plexes. It looks like a Talwar on crack and it will have an 8 AU warp speed.

The SOE frig will will be the greatest PITA. Farmers can now farm all plex sizes in 110% safety.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Or they could just kill you it's probably as strong as a Navy Frig.

The High Sec Poco change may open up some increased revenue through the blueprint as more are needed.

Generally it's going to be a lot of fun, although all the irritating elements of small/solo pvp are going to be exacerbated by some of the new ships and mechanics.

I resubbed 4 accounts a month ahead of time 'cause i'm pumped for rubicon. FW is cruiser-and-down mania so the amount of engagements is going to multiply dramatically simply because more people get "caught" from faster warps almost across the board.

Everybody wins in all of this, tbh. I'm pumped! Gotta leave my bubbler alts out of militia though...damn standings hits. Those of ya who wanna roam with me after rubicon's hotfixes are all done, hit me up. I'll forward ya the mail i'm sending people I know. For the 0.0 roams I plan on inviting wt's and friends/allies alike...0 fucks given.

Inties are gonna be near-impossible to catch except for pilot error--but there'll be plenty of that everywhere so YAY!

Expect marauders to die more often in the beginning while pies and various people testing out fits/etc get used to the new builds. Then expect marauder fleets to multiply dramatically, mainly in lowsec. Getting MJJ battleships down to 1 minute per microjump is pretty awesome for a fleet doctrine:D

Expect epic videos from groups such as Rooks n' kings on the likes of said shenanagins within 2 months ♥

i except to see the crusader once again cloud amarr militia fleets

i except to see the EAF used for a few weeks after release, then after the presumed rage quits of those loosing their eaf's to a light flight of hobs (because they didnt fix their sigs) wont see them used hardly

interdictors, still worthless in fw except for baiting with the possiblity of a 40mil isk kill

warp changes. will make battleship/battlecruiser gangs harder to get away from a smaller frigate blob. this im looking forward to.

also come by sahtogas! amarrian vengeance will do their best to give you guys a gf in small gang warfare! (5-10 man gangs)!

I like the warp speed changes - but I wish they wouldn't slow down BC and BS too. Speeding up the small ships is enough. Its going to make the rare large ships even rarer otherwise.

spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!

I'll probably take an Eve-Online break thu the whole thing. As well as get away from my current ingame consulting duties.

MOST ships that are viable now will still be after the expansion. I'm only really interested in changes to OFF GRID BOOSTING. Until then it's the same game it has been for the past 3 years.

I will log on to do some Black Ops drops in the new sisters of eve cruiser with cov op logi legions. Might purchase 1 - 2 characters for said silliness. Might do some Railgun-Raptor/Taranis fleets or something (already rocked lml-crow fleets 2 years back). The Heretic is interesting though and might do Keres + Sentinel roams again. Otherwise, meh! The warp changes may or may not HURT solo/small scale pvp. Might be a pain getting away from fleets with 3 or more frigates in cruisers and above.

Oh! Yeah im also interested in that SOE frigate. I foresee some abuse out of fleets of those with like RR or something.

I must be blind or something. EAFs (just not the kitsune) are already pretty good at what they do but I seldom ever see them in the warzone. The vast majority of the time what I am seeing is mobs of lemmings who can't scout/tackle, can't EWAR, and basically expect FCs to feed them targets they can F1 to death while praying that the purple logi outlasts the other side's. The biggest change Rubicon could do for FW is providing new players with quick n easy tutorials for how to be an effective pilot that knows how to do things that might just be necessary when someone is trying to put together a fleet at times when the unicorns who currently fly EAFs are offline.

The siphons will multiply opportunities for ganking cloaky transports, because lets be honest, every man and his dog is going to have a rash of these on their lowsec goo POS. 10 siphons and no goo for you.

The EAFs will be good for small gangs, but mostly for gate camping. Well, at least the Hyena and Keres. Not much use TDing a Mammoth on a gate.

The warp speed changes, I agree, will really punish battleships so they will get used even less - if posssible. I mean...OK, we needed the frigates to go faster. maybe not as fast as the proposed 'teleporting inty' goes right now. It's seriously broken, and will be scaled back, mark my words (or the crying of anom farmers in nullsec). But making BS warp slower really is going to just make them painful.

The BLOPs potential of the Stratios is getting me wet behind the ears. Having them in the medium pplexes? Hardly going to change much, given you can already camp with a cloaky recon, this will jjust bring more DPS.

The SOE frig camping novices...yawn. It will be a sad, sad day for FW but a good day for retailers of the Warp Core Stabiliser.

I can see the warp speed having quite an impact, an inty will be able to catch anything, not just battleships, even dessies will suffer.

As for the EAFs, I think that they will have a lowsec impact rather than purely a FW impact. The EAFs is the only real part of Rubicon that got my attention tbh.

No, you were not blobbed, you just didn't bring enough people to the fight!

Hyena and Keres range will be a very interesting change. I've got a lot of spare caracals anxious to see what EAF frigs do.
