Secondly, you have 10 days why not finish the job, after all Somer's service is currently still running.

Dont want to annoy GM's anymore and after 10 days its a breach of reseller agreement. So i will shut it down now i made my point.

Thank god Sommer also did the good thing and stopped theirs rather than increasing the payout by 5X.

This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main.

It just goes to show how community based they are, and how trustworthy.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

I'm slightly confused by all the Somer Blink hate here.
I think the only people who have done anything wrong is CCP when they favoured Somer by giving them very valuable free stuff. - and that issue has been dealt with.

Why the all somer hate? Somer appear to be preparing to abide by the new rules just like everyone else. Somer have an offer on to try and squeeze some extra cash out of the 10 day grace period. I've actually taken the offer, but thats a personal choice thing.
Somer look like they are going to abide by the new rules and hopefully won't get any more special treatment by CCP.
That's all good.
Why the hate?

You mean other than the fact all of the other sites have stopped and Somer blink has increased their off bu 5 times.

It shows them for what they are, a business milking the EvE community for as much RL money they can get.

for me that a non sequitur - I don't understand why that's bad
mind you I wasn't as pissed off as everyone else about the D3 AHes, maybe it's just me

For me CCP showing favouritism would be very bad if it happened, but it looks like everyone is getting treated the same.
When you think about somer only has 10 days to come up with and implement a new business model to pay server costs. That's not long at all. I think what they are doing right now is using the 10 days grace to build a cash buffer to take the time squeeze off. I don't think they can pay server expenses with ISK, but they are arse deep in ISK so trying to convert some to real cash - at a very poor rate for them.

I know if I make any positive comment on the current offer I'll be accused of shilling/fanboyism etc.... But the offer atm is so good I I actually got more value in incentives than the value of the items I purchased. Right now the effective price of PLEXmonthly sub to me is half what it usually is and I have stocked up a little to pay my subs for a decent period to come - at the expense of you know who.

I'm profiting from their misfortune. Is that good or bad?

almost everyone else who tried similar schemes recently had threads locked and was threatened. Somer has made over $135K USD from the affiliate GTC sales through to May of this year. they certainly shouldn't be needing a cash buffer, although Andrev Nox keeps playing the starving server admin defence. regardless of that though, they operate as a for-profit corp. and should have to fund themselves out of their own pocket the same way others do. if they can't afford to operate and make trillions of isk in profit, they should scale back or close down.

someone earlier posted that cogdev's domain owner closed a deal on a pretty expensive commercial space the same month they renegotiated their affiliate program back in May. while i can't verify this, if true, it does make for some interesting reading between the lines for :tinfoil: crew. there was also something mentioned about things being register in Panama to avoid taxes and regulations. take these tidbits as you will when deciding if Somer sounds like a 'trusth worthy' and 'honourable' 'community service'.

Somer has 300T isk to burn through. 1 trillion is a thousand billions. So, giving out 1b per $1.75 of GTC, profits would be 300,000 x 1.75 = $525,000. thats over half a million USD if Somer can RMT all his isk at that absurdly tempting conversion rate. a lot of people are taking advantage of these ridiculous isk firesale so they stand to make a ridiculous amount of profit.

you didn't profit from their misfortune at all. you helped them cash out closer to their goal of hundreds of thousands more in profit. and as Somer has given CCP and the community a big **** you, who's to say they won't just RMT the remaining isk through more traditional methods after the 7 days are over? they certain don't have integrity or ethics to hold them back. a ban makes sense in this situation. Somer has flagrantly RMTed and shows no signs of stopping.

I agree there's cash in tham thar hills for Somer
But why should we all be down on someone trying to run a business connected to Eve? I've played a lot of MMO ( started with Asheron's Call ) over a long time and one of the things I love about Eve so much is the meta outside the mechanics of the game client. I love that scamming is allowed, spying is allowed, I love reading about the famous poniz schemes and fake banks. It's all part of Eve's history and what makes it so amazing.
Surely someone running a business off Eve is no different? Despite my Somer account being loaded right now I'd love it if one day they just stuck on their website "F**k you. We've run off with all the money" That would be soo funny :) It would also make CCP look a little silly - but they don't need help with that they manage fine all by themselves.
For me it's all part of the meta, and it's the variety and scale of the meta that makes Eve soo good.

So what if someone did some hard work and earned some cash from it? Who knows what the next bunch might come up with?
Isn't capitaism and greed is good as Gordon Gecko said?

The only get upset when people get treated differently - everyone should be treated equally. Also the rules should be clear.
I do admire the thread starter for tackling an unclear rule, and forcing CCP to pull their head out of the sand on this.

Except that as a business they should not be here anyway

Yeah that ELUA looks pretty clear to me.
Which then makes me wonder if it's so clearly against the terms of the ELUA why hasn't it been enforced before?
CCP clearly has been fine with Somer up until someone else decided to do the same thing.

I still thinks this reflects far more poorly on CCP than Somer. To give special preferential treatment to someone who is breaking the ELUA is just a farce. - Nothing new from CCP there then.

Well I have certainly been enjoying the site all year and more-so now. I've deposited under 400mill throughout the whole year, but got a return of over 5billion isk and PLEX that paid my subs some months. And without ever using the affiliate thing honestly, rather just pay normal sub, it's cheaper. But with the increased incentive, I may actually get a 60d GTC for once and further increase my own rate of returns.

You actually GOT these items and isk, or you "got" them, and "re-invested" them (e.g. blink credit)

I prefer to move value from Somer to Eve.
e.g. the bonus credit on offer at the moment
Buy 4 60 day GTCs = 8 months of Eve
+
5B blink credit -
spend 3B credit spamming PLEX blinks - try and buy as many tickets as possible
= 6 PLEX = another 6 months of Eve
the remaining 2B credit use for other blinks just because PLEXing it all would be boring
= CNR, some drakes, apocs, and a few minor bits

come out with 14 months of Eve credit for the price of 8 and some in game toys
