Hi,
while crawling through the forums I found offers where people sell webspace, teamspeak servers or the Dust Promo Codes from the CE for isk. So is selling isk for real money the only thing, that is not allowed, while selling whatever stuff for isk is? I mean I played Star Trek Online before and have a really big wallet there, would it be allowed to sell/trade those virtual goods for isk without violating the terms? Normally I would say No but when I found the webspace/ts for isk offers I wondered if it's handeld different in EVE.

As far as I know, there are no hard rules specifying this. The TOS states:

Quote:
You may not market, sell, advertise, promote, solicit or otherwise arrange for the exchange or transfer of items in the game or other game services unless it is for in-game sales of in-game services or items.

However in practice there are things you can get away with selling for ISK. Some examples include:

- EVE characters
- EVE-related service providers (website hosting, voice program servers, ...)
- EVE-related artwork and design (corporation websites, forum signatures, ...)
- EVE-related software or subscriptions to software
- writing articles for news sites
- EVE promotion codes
- DUST ISK (There was one thread trying to sell DUST ISK and it received no CCP response.)

All of the above have one thing in common, they in some way directly relate to EVE. If there is any soft guideline as to what is allowed and what is not, this is probably it. So I would assume that you can't sell currency from other games.

But as I said, the decision is pretty much always made on a case by case basis. The only sure way to know is to petition it before you try.

So it has to be EVE related in any way...hm OK. Thanks.

But I don't see why you say you may get through with it and list character sales under that, since there's a huge Bazar subforum here, more or less run by ccp since they have a close look on it and even dictated some rules.

If you take the TOS literally, it only allows sales conducted in game. There is no way to sell a character in game, you have to use out of game tools (although tools provided by CCP).

And I also believe using the Character Bazaar is the only way CCP will allow character transfers. If you sell it for ISK any other way its not allowed.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

That's what I thought to, but was told differently. Since you can initiate character transfer on your own, you don't have to go through the Character Bazaar. But to get the protections CCP offers to selling/buying characters, you probably should, maybe. What CCP doesn't allow is scams involving character sales. So don't do that.
