first off i don't know where to put this, hope i got it right

I am a pretty new player only a few weeks into my sub and i am really liking the idea of creating a corporation and running it.
the problem is i don't know where to start or if creating a corporation at my skill level would be advised. I don't know how i would gain support, members or anything.
i do know how to create a corporation and i get all the mechanics of the neocon, i read all the tutorials on corporation management, what skills i should have and such, i guess the problem is the people side of it.

as a new aspiring corporation leader what should i be doing to create a successful corporation?
i have goals and a plan set out in my head but other than that i am stuck.

Find other people that are willing to work for those goals with you.

Look to the recruitment sections of the forums and the recruitment channel in game

You'll have a lot of competition so try to have something valuable to make people wanna join you.

The best way to learn how to lead a corp is to join a corp and learn from people who have been around longer. If you are thinking about making a corp "just 'cause", you shouldn't be. You'll be much better off joining an existing corp and learning how it works from the people already doing it.

As mxzf said the best way to learn is to join a corp that has been around for a while but i would advice you to NOT say something like "Hey im interested in joining but eventually i will leave and create my own corp". Most recruiters wont accept players that have no intention of being a long term member.

But exept that... I realize that the idea of creating your own corp is tempting but you should be aware over the fact that running a corp in Eve is like a second job. You should consider it very carefully and preferably find someone who is willing to start the corp with you and be aware over the fact that it will take some time.

Good luck and hope it works out well Smile

I understand the difficulties of running a corporation and how time consuming it is, and that why it is so appealing to me.
its just, why join my newb corp when you could join a corp that's been around since 2007 or the beginning of eve that already has established alliances, territories ,reputations and cash flow. i cant find a reason, which is why this is at the same time deterring me from starting one.

I would advise that you join an existing corporation first, to see how others do it, to make friends and get the hang of the people side of things. There is a great thread here on exactly this topic, filled with advice about corporations: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=123963

This. When you make friends in that corp, some day you may be able to leave together and make your own corp with those friends. Its a long-term goal though.

If you think "Im new and interested in running a corp", the problem is how do you recruit people into a corp when you have nothing special to offer? Why should those people join your corp over an established 100-member corp for example? Think about it.

In addition to this, there are downsides to starting your own "newbie" corp.

1. you will be "newbie industrial/pvp/missioning/mining/exploration/whatever corp #12343254"
2. you will be EASY wardec targets
3. running a corp is a damn job ... you essentially rely on what the CORP can bring in to do anything.
4. seriously, take a look at the downsides VERY carefully -- this isn't WoW where being in a guild doesn't mean anything beyond getting to wear a new piece of loot with your symbol on it...

Since actually stepping up and pulling things together to make an actual working/effective corporation I have had zero time to pursue my own ISK-making ventures like I used to as merely a cog in the machine...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

If you want to experiment with corporations, you can train Corporation Management 1 on the test server.

You can earn ISK on the test server by repeatedly platinum insuring your ship, self-destructing it, and buying another for 100 ISK (nearly everything is purchasable on the test server from NPC for 100 ISK). I like to use dreadnoughts (yes, even those are 100 ISK).

EVElopedia: Creating a Corporation

Test server tip: copy the current EVE folder to a test server folder, and let SiSi launcher patch that. It is faster than downloading 3.5 GB. Whenever the test server client won't patch, delete the test server folder and re-copy and re-patch.
