So, lately, CCP has been using some issues similar to RL ones in the Eve World News, like the following:

elokur-found-not-guilty-small-scale-riots-erupt

A while ago, I argued that CCP should stop whitewashing the Fed, by building lore and news stories with similarities to RL problems in democracies. It looks like they have done so. And this is awesome.

The problems with client states, internal divisions, and multicultural tensions within a large country offer a rich tableau for developing niche characters, conflicts, and new lore. I'd just like to offer this as a hearty "well-done" for Falcon and the others at the CCP lore desk-thingie. I'm definitely interested in seeing where you go from here, and good work. Big smile

Amusingly, this arc along with the stuff that's going on with the Caldari-Gallente spying was planned well before any of the current stuff in real life kicked off.

I was kicking myself pretty hard after stuff in real life started to occur, and we were all concerned that perhaps having something like this running wasn't the best idea.

We edited things a little bit as a team, looked over what was going to be put out, and are running with it. Very glad that you're enjoying.

Smile

Start putting together a story arc where the economies of the Empires come out of a recession with a sudden boom of economic growth and prosperity.

I've been explaining this to my Non-EVE friends as the "Reverse ZImmerman Trial" and the whistle blower incident as "Space Snowden"

I like the real world parallels quite a bit too, though I do want see more of a balance between fiction in reality. Otherwise I fear the Federation will go back to being Space America. I feel like the best image of the Federation is kind of like the World State from Brave New World. An oppressive regime where the people don't care/don't realize that they are being oppressed because of how hedonistic they are.

The Lore team is doing a great job developing the Federation, yet I feel the other big four need a little more love, especially the Amarr. They haven't really had a story arc in a long time. They kind of just shout that they're going to conquer everyone once in a whil, just to remind the rest of us that they are still here. If you're looking for real world parallels to draw take a look at Pope Francis' slow move towards toleration. Maybe have the Empress extend her attempts to make things better for slaves and have people support or go against it? I don't know, you guys are better at this than I am.

Regardless, keep up the good work, it's fun to see new lore every few days.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!
