I just checked, at the moment it crashes with a DX11 error:

Quote:

err:module:import_dll Library d3d11.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\CCP\\Singularity\\bin\\_trinity_dx11_deploy.dll") not found

Windows version is set to XP, so i don't exactly know why it would launch the DX11 version.

I tested the new marauders a week or so ago. Everything worked back then. Let's hope this is just a temporary issue.

That's not a linux issue other than the lack of dx11. Try setting the game to dx9. "To fix this, go to the settings in the launcher (small cog-wheel in the top right corner), switch to the tab "DirectX" and select dx9."

http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/eve-online-news/important-singularity-launcher-information

PS- As far as me I'm not regularly playing I was just interested how long a skill queue I should set, and if I should set aside some time to troubleshoot it, and update various howtos...

Oh you are right, i didn't even look for something like that. Why would they make a menu option for something you can probably autodetect..

It is always a good idea to set the queue to a week or more if a patch comes around. That's no Linux issue too

Of course, but there are releases that are week trainning queue and some that are worth a month queue. At this point nearly everything is at least a week for me....

You can disable DX 11 in the launcher, by default it is enabled at the moment.

Linux issues aside this sounds like a horrible idea from the windows side of things. A lot of users don't have dx11 installed. Why not at least probe for dx11, and fall back the older dx9? Better yet leave dx11 off by default until there is a reason to actually use it.

PS- Be aware that the minute that Eve requires dx11 to function it will mean no linux support. There is no dx11 support in wine and it's not on the road map for the next release...

Wow man, are you seriously thinking that CCP devs are using common sense?

Luckily bypassing the launcher seems to still work and it seems to be defaulting to DX9 anyway. I'm crossing my fingers that they will not screw that up.

They have no near-future plans to remove DX9 support.

Edit: Odyssey 1.2 works fine on my box here.

i have d3dx11_42 and 43 installed (via winetricks) and forced as native (in winecfg). Singularity starts correcly but using d9 and not d11 (ctrl-f to see that)
wine1.7.4 - set as win7
xubuntu 13.10
nvidia drivers 331.13

I would like to test d3dx11! anyone knows a method to "force" wine to use them, please?

someone please correct me, if i am wrong.

but i am under the impression that anything above DX9 is not (fully) supported by wine at this point in time.

there simply is no wrapper for the DX10/11 calls in wine (yet).
e.g. the DX11 equivalent of "translating" the D3D calls to OpenGL is not in wine.

i am no technical expert, but i remeber that DX11 is a tough nut to crack due to it being extremly tied to windooze architecture.
but then, once DX11 comes to Mac OS maybe its trickling into linux aswell.

possibly Steam manages to overcome this dilemma. or simply bite the bullet and dual-boot (if thats an option) to feed the DX11 eve habbit Blink

It will just break as wine doesn't support a lot of the required dx11 functionality. Luckily neither does older versions of windows which is what keeps Eve on it. Also the mac client is done using a commercial wine fork so it's not likely that Eve will go all dx11 any time soon.

There is actually a fallback built-in for the more recent test version. The problem was just that Sisi was reverted to an older build which didn't have the fallback but already understood the configuration switch passed on from the launcher.

Sorry for a litle bit off topic. But it has still something to do with testing and we have some devs here too :-)

Long story short. There is a new version of wine out (1.7.5) and in bug fixes there is this:

chromium-based apps can't load https sites

It looks to me like that it could solve our problem with the launcher. And until that version comes to my Ubuntu it might take few days and because I'm lazy to compile that by myself, maybe someone could be able to test it before me. Might be a false alarm, but without testing we won't find it out :-)

Yes and SiSi works here well.

Are you sure you aren't running a version of wine with an additional patch applied?
https sites still don't work for me in wine 1.7.5 although I'm now getting error code:-9 which means the remote end is refusing me access to the resource Shocked

Thanks for keeping an eye on us, Aporia.

If I used the launcher, I was crashing due to the dx11 flag. but since I only use the launcher to patch since it malfunctions so often, I ran the straight exefile and it switched to dx9 automatically.

It is crashing more often on launch. A relaunch seems to work though.
