Verdict in on Trial

I find this of particular interest partly because of my family background. The Keng clan has often been referred to as "The Coal Clan" due to our dark skin. Although we are part of the Khanid Kingdom we are sometimes taken for Brutor immigrants. We have endured our share of discrimination simply because of skin color.

Aside from the concern for justice: I hope that the verdict satisfies that element; I also see this verdict as an opportunity to address that our cultures as a whole must decry race hatred. I am interested in the perspectives of the capsuleer community regarding this and the growing nationalist movement in Gallente culture.

Good on him. Hope he's able to live safely now. I'd love to help the kid get back on his feet.

By Federal law, he's a free man, and any opinions I have on that will be kept to myself.

When someone tries you kill you, you try to kill them right back. Of course, it's best to kill someone before they try to kill you.

I'm glad to see this result from the trial.

I am not particularly enthusiastic about the reactions from everyone else (on the ground), however.

I hate to say that I told you so....

...no I don't. I love it.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I dislike that there is celebrating over someone killing 3 men. There were no winners in this mess.

I hope the protests and near riots didn't influence the decision of the court. Regardless, I'm happy that the man is free and I strongly urge all of my fellow Federal comrades and citizens to respect and uphold the decision of our justice system. Do not incite violence and please report or stop any incidents you see.

So much drama over what is essentially one in the thousands of self-defense trial cases going on in the Federation this week. Racists lined up on one side to decry the man as a monster, Matari (even those outside the Federation) called all the rest of the Gallente racist without cause, and everyone was twisted up into a knot to see what would happen.

And in the end, the Gallente justice system simply worked as intended. We got our information, why they saw fit to arrest and try him, why the jury acquitted, and everything moves on. All the political nervousness over essentially nothing.

I hardly see the point of either violence, dismay, or celebration in this case. You would think an awful lot of people who thought there was something more to this case would probably feel somewhat silly.

Hopefully the man after being assaulted by Federation citizens, and then locked up by Federation law enforcement officers for defending himself, will be financially compensated for the false imprisonment and loss of freedom for all these past months.

That would seem fair. The true test of the Gallente justice system will come when he files for damages against the estates of those three criminals who viciously attacked him.

Well there you go. All the days of arguing over the past few days has been rendered moot.

It appears that Minmatar can live in the federation with full faith in the legal system.

The fact that there where Gallente dressing up as the Black Eagles with no other purpose than to stir up racial violence seems to me the be hugely counter productive to settling this whole "race" issue. Looks to me like they where trying to cause the same issue again by attacking Minmatar and looking to get a self defense response that would get a bunch arrested and cause more protests and instability.
What is going on on Synchelle?

I must confess it is troubling. This breach between us must be mended. Only evil will result from widening it. The system, albeit far from perfect has worked to set an innocent man finally free. I hope Federation citizens of all heritages can come together in justice and equality.

Justice?

I should think that an "estate" large enough to "satiate" the Tribal's implacable vengeance and perpetual victim-hood, would be vast indeed.

It might be best if this young man went back to his own, for everyone safety.

I agree. When all is said and done, the alliance between the Federation and the Republic is very important, to both nations. I wonder why anyone would work to create tension between us, unless it is those who best stand to gain by a loss of trust between us. Maybe we need to be looking further for the real source of the conflict.

Elokur may have been found innocent. If he stays within the Federation i think he will be dead within a year. The true Gallente will not forget what he did to their kind. Like James says it wil be best if goes back to where he belongs.
