TE v TP v TC?

200mm Rail Thorax., Rail Brutix, Talos, Mega, etc...

My fit will always include at least one TE. I understand they were nerfed while I was on a break, but I havent bothered to check how badly. But after one TE, that what is better? A second TE a TP or a TC? I typically use a second TE, but people were discussing this last night and said TP. The TP or TC will force me to drop the small cap booster, so I might put a cap recharger over a second TE... Anyway - thoughts?

Target painter - Never on these ships
Tracking computer - are you a battleship or a sniper? otherwise NO. If you're armor tanked and REALLY need tracking, these are OK, but not in the situation where a web would be better.
Tracking Enhancer - nerfed from 15% optimal 30% falloff to 10/20. Tracking unchanged i think. 1-2 of these are nice on a shield tanked ship, 3 for a machariel. If you're armor tanking, generally you fit tank + 1-2 magnetic field stabilizer with no tracking enhancers.

Thanks. Web isn't an option that I care to use on a rail boat. Thanks for the info on the TE, but why is a second clearly better than a TP or TC? Stacking seems like it would be an issue...

TC and TE will stacking penalize as they affect the same attribute (assuming tracking speed script in the TC)

TP will not. However, the stacking penalty for a second mod is only 84% effectiveness, so it's not that big a deal.

If you plan to engage at range, a TC or a TP is fine. TP gives the same relative tracking boost as a tracking-speed-scripted TC and helps your whole gang if you have one. However, you can instantly swap to optimal range in the TC if you need to, so it has the extra versatility.

Furthermore, why do you need a small cap booster on any of those ships?

Small cap booster is necessary with this thorax in a kiting situation. Ive been in two engagements without one and capped out both times. Once I switched to the small cap booster, Ive never gone back.

Ive never used one in the other ships. I have had sniping megas with a medium cap booster for the same reason, but that was years ago.

I think I might try the TP just for kicks. Optimal range isnt really necessary on this thorax. With spike, its optimal reaches out almost to full targeting range.

Train a bit of Signature Focusing and the painter will give you more of a tracking boost than a tracking-scripted TC. And help the rest of your gang (if you have one, not sure what you're actually doing heh). Smile
