The difrence is in my opion, the forum has nothing to do with actual isk gain etc, inside of EvE, its a forum for adult people to discuss ideas, opinions etc regarding eve, BUT what you do inside the game actually affects the isk gain, game balance, thats the difrence

Reputation is important in EvE therefore what you post on the forum matters as that will contribute to that reputation.

you are allowed to have 3 characters on the same account, which of them you use to post on the forums with is entirely your business.

recycling characters to get an in-game advantage may or may not be illegal, but it's an attempt to avoid the action/consequence part of eve, and should not be allowed.

Yea, like anyone can't spend 5 minutes training Corp Management and buy a corp for 15k isk.

That makes you a main.

Because on forums we have nothing to gain, but while contributing to the proper discourse of discussion and growth.

i have nothing to gain if i choose to start suicide ganking pods on jita gate, but i can't biomass the thrasher alt

besides the possible gain, this is one game, and we post with ingame characters. you're still avoiding ingame consequences by rolling a disposable alt for forum posting, as with scammers avoiding ingame consequences by rolling scammer alts

Wut™

Your main is the toon you spend the most time on in game, no amount of SP or ISK changes that fact.

Also if you are trying to be sarcastic the OP already admitted that this his/her forum alt.

I'm not talking about the OP. I know it's hard for some to follow a thread.

Must be another alt.

this is indeed a main. as i am a trader, i spend the majority of my time in Eve logged into this toon. i say and do what i want, not just on the forums, but within the in-game trade channels, etc., on this toon. i don't need to hide behind an alt when i post here.

anyway: impunity of scammers against actions of other players is completely against nature of this game "you cannot be immune to the actions of other people"

i ignored the rest of your post, i'll just leave this bit since it is equally applicable to forum alts. thinking back, i don't even think what you can gain with the alt is important - there's no argument for it being an important difference. what's important is the fact i might want to make you suffer a bounty or block you for whatever it is you're doing or not doing.

incorrect. the forum is a place for characters to communicate, which is why you post with a character and not an account. the forum is not real life, either. i can certainly make that distinction.

we're all against recycling for ingame advantage, of course. but bountying and blocking are also avoided via forum alts. it doesn't matter why i want to bounty the guy - if he does something in eve, including on the forum which is part of eve, i might want to bounty him. if scammers should not be able to use alts to avoid metagame consequence, then neither should forum users be able to use an alt to avoid metagame consequence.

personally, i'm fine with forum alts. but they're the same deal as scam alts. tolerate both or neither.

Posting in a 'Typing in local should be banned until you're at least [THIS TALL]' stealth nerf thread.

Sort of like the idea of having to train up a communications skill inorder to talk in local.
