Are Caldari the worst race when it comes to ships?

We have the most unappealing ships of all the races.
Caldari are typically LAST to be picked for incursions because you know "flight time" of missiles.

Anyone want to discuss how Caldari are awesome? Can you think of one thing we are good at besides losing ships due to poor damage projection?

Is this only about Incursions?

I saw a Blackbird kick the shaft out of a Loki recently

Haha, not empty quoting! Caldari ECM boats can be truely terrifying. I also think caldari are pretty good for PvP. Don't have to worry about optimal ranges or any of that. Just slam them with missiles!

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

Ahh yes the falcon....

Glad you brought it up. The falcon looks like a fax machine and a vacuum cleaner had offspring then dipped it in chocolate, with a nice brown gradient.....

Yes, aesthetically marvelous the Falon,I can't tell which way it faces because it has no front, back, top or side. You can spin the ship around and it still looks like NOTHING.

As if incursions were the only thing to do in game......Roll
For a long time Caldari were and still are king of pve and with the cruise missile buff they are even better at level 4s, ratting whatever. (Damage type choice, anyone?)

Wast fleets of drakes used to terrorize 0.0 then people moved on to the Tengu.
Falcons were the bane of small gang pvp for a long time and are still very good.

Just because they are less popular for one niche aspect of the game does not make the whole race bad.

If you are a one trick pony limited to incursions by all means sit in the corner and sulk .....or train something that caters more to your "special" play style.

This is a valid point.

Still at least its not as bad as the Minnie ships, to quote Sol Burke, they look "Like an exploision in a girder factory"

However, aesthetics aside, Falcons are **** serious in PVP.

Also there is a lot to be said for the humble rocket condor (I do FW, sue me) and Merlins can put up a damn good fight if they are well flown.

Incursions are a very niche, very specialised part of EVE. I wouldn't draw general conclusions from it, any more than I would from eg: the results of the alliance Tournament.

everyone who is serious about PVP, at least to those I talked to, all pick Gallente, Minmatar or Amarr ships. Caldari are typically DEAD LAST. Always.

There isn't a SINGLE ship that anyone considers taking to incursions, except maybe the RNI, guess how many FC will pick RNI over a Vindi or a Mach.

We need a ship at least ONE ship that can do well in incursions for offensive combat that balances out all the races. I'm sick of everyone flocking to Vindi.... always about the Vindi and Machs.

Can we just say that incursions are ALL races BUT Caldari? Seems fair at least.

So... when the OP started with Incursions and effectiveness

And we said "But Falcon and Blackbird and PVP"

And so she said "Looks" and we said "Well thats fair, but effective EW and Minmatar?"

And so she says "PVP" again

I think the OP just hates Caldari and won't be happy until someone agrees.

That said, Amarr Victor (though a lot of people I know wont fly them for PVP either, so.... go figure)

I am Caldari, I like Caldari I just wish our ships had more multi purpose roles. We are dead last when it comes to certain aspects of the game where other races seem more balanced, more "diversified". I think Caldari should be given a second look to try and bring more options and diversity to the race.

Go to Amarr FW space and see if you can count how many fecking Hookbills you see.

Or Rocket Condors.

Or Blackbirds.

Wait... you've just described Broadsword.

Anyway, about Caldari...

Chimera is the best ship for fixing POS-es.

Blackbird is useful in small t1 cruiser gangs. It helps new players get into pvp and not lose every fight.

Nighthawk and Tengu were good for PvE... before all the nerfs that happened recently.
Golem is now the king of PvE and with Rubicon buffs + Bastion module it will become a default for many mission runners.

Rokh can be very scary in small BS gangs or even for solo PvP, as demonstrated in one of my favourite EVE PvP vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0FdO7pjMkY.

Rhea has the biggest cargohold of all jump freighters.

Moa is still the ugliest ship in the game (that counts for something too Big smile)

Dual Medium anci boosted Hawk is pretty decent choice for a frig fight.

And lastly, the mentioned Falcon, if you limit it to gangs of 10 players or less.

It's never about what weapons you come equipped with, but how good you are at using them. It's been shown time and time again that a low level characters, played by an experienced PvPer can own a long term character who has sod all experience beyond carebearing.

As for the look of the ships? Some of the Caldari birds are bloody ugly, but I like them for being "all purpose and screw the aesthetics" in attitude.

Granted but if you had a wish list for Caldari, mine would be:

1. More diversity
2. Better aesthetic design

Never understood how people can consider

Caldari ships

to be ugly

but allow Gallante ships

to live

I like the new Golem, don't see the problem.

But that would take the flavour from the Caldari. The State isn't about aesthetics. The state is entirely about building tools to get the job done. Unlike in the real world, the Caldari don't have to worry about pleasing the tastes of their own people, and instead build ships which are designed to fly guns and missiles into combat - a case of function over form in the large majority of cases. They are almost puritan in their lack of visually appealing designs.
