Saw on the big site the brackets have been updated, is the schedule timing the same? Two days to go and I've got nothing to tell my pilots yet..

Seriously guys, let's get going on this. More information regarding schedules, posts on EVE-O / FHC / Reddit publicizing the SCL, etc.

Two days to go and you all are disturbingly quiet.

Your expectations are setting you up for being let down. So here are a few tips for setting your expectations in a way that is not going to cause you any sort of suffering in this process.

24 hours or less notice on exact match times.
The teams involved or times may change on the day of the event causing a bracket shuffle.
The schedule is elastic and may drift through the day due to various factors.

Oh, don't get me wrong, No Boundaries will be squared away the best we can. Just giving SCL peeps a gentle poke and suggestion.

First match will kick off at 18:00. All team captains should be present around 17:30 so we can get everything organized.

Thanks once again to SCL organisers and behind the scenes staff, especially Fozzie for giving up his weekend! Hope we competitors entertained you enough to keep this going.

Grats to Tri the Verge for beating us in the final (again). Y U BAN VULTURES. Maybe we should start using logistics now...

RE: The Bump

I haven't watched all the footage back but apparently the commentators couldn't figure out what kniffee did to jump out of the arena in the first match vs Tri the Verge. Apathetic Brent told me it definitely wasn't a bump. Our ceptor piloted swears he executed his plan perfectly. Since the camera wasn't on him I guess we will never be able to prove for sure.

http://www.twitch.tv/syndicatecl/b/478507239?t=1h44m0s

We were testing that a ceptor could 0-50 scram a marauder if he MJD'ed right off the bat, when we by accident found that if the ceptor hit it at a certain angle it would make the alignment of the marauder go directly backwards. If he started @ 50 this would cause him to jump backwards out of the arena. We tried to re-create the accident and after many attempts our ceptor pilot got it again. I was sceptical if we could rely on it as a tactic, and told him he needed to deliver 9/10 times when asked to for me to spend the points on his ship. Dammit he took me up on the challenge and spent hours testing it until eventually he had a ship with the right mass/speed ratio and he dragged me onto sisi one night and did it 10/10 times in a row. The stars aligned in the match vs Tri the Verge and when he spotted the MJD put his pedal to the floor and slammed into the pally and the results were explosive :p

Oh btw one of our pilots from red circle inc. made this as he was going along http://z142.net/scl5/ (he hasn't quite finished linking all the matches as it was late when we finished).

Until next time o7

Thanks to Fozzie, the organizers, the teams, the sponsor and our team captain Bivas, and the rest of TriVerge for a great tournament. It was awesome :)

Great games guys and well flown. Especially Footwork with some fantastic tactics. That bump was just briliant. Yes it was a bump. knifee confirmed that and it shocked us all. Well played. And Vultures too STRONK. After 1 loss and 1 narror victory against it we didn't dare to face it again.

Also one suggestion for the tournament. If you are gonna use the same format for next SCL you should move match 13 and 14 to day 1. Having 10 (potentially 11) the other day is very exhausting and it is sort of out of proportion when we only had 1 match the first day. Also it will prevent day 2 to become so late for us EU players who have to get up early again monday morning.

Looking forward to next round
-Miz

Thanks to the organisers. Good fun - really enjoyed the tourney and the stream worked a lot better for me than last time, even if it was a little flakey on the Saturday.

Fleet comms when we nailed the Marauder bump was just immense. I think we all spent the next couple of seconds in hysterics before thinking "pull it together we still need to kill the rest" - Great props to Tri Verge for the remaining fights, going all the way through the loser bracket and coming back to smash us in the final. Hopefully we'll make you work harder next time! :D

As Mizhir said, the second day is really long compared to the first, from the perspective of a team that skipped a lot of entry fights this is annoying. But I guess from the other end of the spectrum it probably feels like Day 1 is too long! I don't think anything can really be done about it.

Can't believe how well our Vulture/Golem setup worked. Iirc the Vulture that died was 2-3 seconds away from the reload completing where he was confident he'd have survived the rest of the match keeping the fit secret :p

Brent's wrong, and watch the first five seconds of the fight for proof. You can't seen names, but you can see a red frigate immediately scream across the field from zero right at the blue BS hull. This is clearly Cable's Malediction charging the Paladin. You can clearly see the red frigate bounce off the blue BS - it changes speed far too quickly to for it to be a manual deceleration, plus you can see it reapproach the BS hull after the bounce.

The battle info display lags by about five or ten seconds, but on there you can also see Cable's Malediction accelerate to almost 7 km/s. You can also see that he accidentally scrambled the Paladin, but had the presence of mind to turn off his scrambler after one cycle, so the Paladin was no longer scrambled at the end of the MJD spool-up and was free to MJD out of the arena. The mixed Razor/Test team (named "Something Else") had fun, so thanks for another iteration of the SCL. We're looking forward to the next one!

Some mildy interesting tidbits:

- The Something Else team worked hard and accumulated tens of minutes of high-quality practice for the SCL.
- In our win against Executive Otters, two of us were dual-boxing.
- In our loss against Team Footwork we simply needed to disengage and not die for a few minutes to win it. Our Eos burned out the MWD and couldn't outrun the solo Kronos of doom.
- In our win against Reputation Cartel, the enemy's Dominixes had no buffer or active reps, just resistance mods, which is really odd without a logi. It made our job easy.
- In our win against Test, the Vulture that warped to 0 (me) was bait tanked (obvious bait is obvious). Test wasted a good 45 seconds trying to kill it. The three flights of heavy rep bots were doing a good job of keeping the Test logi alive, so we had to kill off those drones before we could switch back to their logi. During that time Test wasted a lot of time trying to kill an AB Jaguar with their Megas.
- In our loss against No Boundaries our logi was bait-tanked, but they didn't go after it. I made that fateful decision to supertank it after it quickly died in most of the previous matches. Bad call.

Overall, the SCL point balance was decent. A few suggestions: keep drone boats the same points as the rest of their class and simply eliminate all sentry drones from the tourney. That would simplify things. I would also bump up Marauders 2 points since the bastion module is a bit OP.

Good fun, and see you all soon!

We figured it made more sense to try and blap the T1 cruisers and get that DPS off the field. Especially since Logistic reps on them are suboptimal, and don't get a lot of EHP/sec to show for their efforts.

If it's any consolation, that match was very tense for us. Once it stabilized into Paladin vs. Paladin and several frigates, I believe my exact orders on comms were "don't do anything to [expletive] this up" about twenty times. Morwen apparently decided it would be entertaining to give me a stroke, and MJD'd to 119km from the beacon.

Team Footwork has still not received any Plex's form CCP, not sure who to contact to chase it.

We are not in it for the money, but fattening our ATXII fund with these is nice :)
