POS defense - Guns and ammunition.

I have some questions related to the defense of POS.

It's about guns that defend the station...

- Tracking is measured from tower ?
- Range is measured from the tower ?
- Range bonus/malus from ammo doesn't apply ?
- Damage bonus from ammo is clearly applied ?

I'm looking for the best small and medium guns and ammunition for them.

YES
YES (for the guns, for all ewar distance is from the battery).
IT APPLIES

Projectiles are the best as victim doesn't know in advance what damage type your gun will be spewing.
Also they hit quite hard, have long falloff and track well.
You should load projectiles with EMP and fusion.

Second best - lasers on amarr tower.
Small Pulse Infrared
Medium Pulse Xray
Small Beam Ultraviolet
Medium Beam Multifrequency
And you will hit very hard and well.

Note that unlike ship guns, POS guns do not show ammunition-modified attributes when you Show Info on them, also note that T1 crystals get used up in POS guns but not in ship guns.

For highsec med and small guns:
Amarr tower - lasers (beam and pulse)
Minmatar - projectile (arty and AC)
Galente - hybrid/projectile (rail for long, AC for short range)
Caldari - same as galente. Never use missiles (they go offline when POS in reinforce).

I hadn't really played around with it yet, but I'm glad to see that what I've actually already done is exactly what Aluka said. Sweet.
