Battle Procurers are already a major threat in the animal kingdom.

I have an idea: howabout the first strip miner gives full yield and all the rest give reduced yield just like a stacking penalty - with the base value increased so that using 4 strips is the same then as using 3 is now. This way you can use 2 strips and mine a lot more than just half of what you'd mine with 3 or 4 of them.

Then give the Procurer and Skiff 2 high slots, the Retriever and Mackinaw 3 high slots, the Covetor 4 high slots, and the Hulk 5 high slots.

The idea behind this is that you can dedicate all of your high slots to mining, but taking one off to do something else won't hurt your mining so much, thus the benefit it provides might actually outweigh the cost. The difference between 4 and 5 strip miners, using this stacking penalty style, would be negligible.

Interesting, Although Stacking on Mining may sound fine in theory, stacking doesn't happen with guns or missiles, so why should it happen with mining. This is why I suggested implementing Mining Hard Points. This way CCP can limit the number of strip miners on a Barge in the same way that they can limit the number of Turrets or Missile Launchers on a combat ship.

Hmmm... cloaked mining fleet. A curious thought.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

This could be interesting, although they would need to stay at least 2k from each other/cans/Asteroids etc would take a bit of micromanagement to do it, it might force the mining fleets to spread out a little :)

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

of course they can't mine while cloaked, but fitting the cloaking device could be really useful to disappear really quick when hostiles come in the system. Kinda like shadowmeld in WoW.

Also, I love bringing up WoW comparisons in carebear threads XD

I'm certain that this is something that ISN'T needed.

Big smile while it might not be needed, I am sure there are some people that would want it. Lol

As long as they don't make a Covert Ops Mining Frigate/Barge, I think it would be safe to toss this in for giggles.

Whilst my original thoughts were for putting a Tractor Beam and/or Salvager on them. The cloaking option is not that Odd, I've seen a number of Cruisers/BCs with Cloaks in their spare High slot when ratting in Low. It's not that too far of a stretch to let Mining Toons slap a Prototype cloak on their ship, Industrial ships have been doing it for ages.
