Hello quick question,

The Shield compensation skills (EM Shield Compensation, Thermic Shield Compensation, etc) say they give 5% bonus to resistances for shield amplifiers, was wondering do these skills apply to Adaptive Invulnerability Fields? if not what modules do they apply to? Thanks

they do not. they only apply to passive resist amplifiers, not hardeners. There is no passive omni resist for shields.

Can you name some of the module names so i could look at them? Thanks for your reply!

Kinetic deflection amplifier, explosive deflection amplifier, thermic dissipation amplifier, EM ward amplifier. these modules are always working and don't use cap like hardeners do. the tradeoff is they don't boost resists as much, but can come close with the skills you spoke of.

Not very long ago the Shield Compensation skills affected active shield hardeners (like the Adaptive Invulnerability Field) but only when they were turned off, which is actually very useful as it gives some decent tank in the event your hardener was turned off (if you get neuted for example). However this passive resistance for active shield hardeners has been completely removed and they now do nothing if they are turned off.

Therefore the Shield Compensation skills are currently very niche as active hardeners are almost always better than passive hardeners unless you expect to be completely neuted out (usually in PvE like Wormholes or L5 missions)

My advice regarding these skills is do not train them at all.
If youre using passive shield mods, youre probably fitting your ship wrong.

There are exceptions, but most of them are pretty niche. I fit amps on my blockade runners to provide some extra smartbomb resilience when cloaked. I also use them extensively in my exploration fits as I know full well I'll be neuted.

For (non-level 5) missions or straight PvP though? Not so much.
