Maaaaowm Ogeko: I should clarify that I'm not in favor of a permaban on second offense. Maybe a 72 hour ban or something. Then a 14 day ban, then a permaban. Harsh, yes. But not warn -> permaban.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

You're right it's none of my business, but I am merely demonstration why they shouldn't be offensive, did you get offended right there because of the crippled woman? Probably not right? No need to get offended, just brush it off and move on, I didn't jump out of a van or anything.

The fact that I'm not offended is due to a combination of factors

  • I'm not crippled.
  • I'm not a woman.
  • That's a really bizarre attempt at an insult.

You made an error here, the OP's reporter got offended because he was called a f-a-g, but was not one, which is exactly what I done, I called you something you're not. And you're not offended? what a strange world we live in.

I disagree

If it's being used as a derogatory and discriminatory slur, yes.

Roll As it goes my signature stays true, its all a personal opinion in the end but you guys are definitely staying true to the term dramaqueen. So much offense talking being used in EVE, but as soon as the word "***" drops oh no its so disrespectful! No surprise here, all you heterosexuals.

Your choice of verbiage equates to demanding the underprivileged to accept the continuation of a regime of distributed privileges and the lack of respect this underprivileged state entails. If they pick up the same methodology of distributing privileges, you are just as much in the right to take exception to their usurpation of power as they are to yours.

Not at all, don't forget this is in a game, I would not call anyone out for their sexuality in real life and harass them for it (or allow others to do it in my presence), but in a game.. especially EVE, anything goes and I find it ridiculous people are being offended by this. you're overreacting massively on the fact that sexuality and "discriminatory slur" is being used.

Next time I would appreciate it if you used less beautifully written english so that I with my bare understandings of English don't have to research your words. ie "You're a ****" would be a lot easier.

Also what about your comms goons and others alike?, no racial slugs are being thrown around there I assume?

Why does it make a difference whether it's online or in person? They're the same words and they carry the same meaning.

As far as comms go, that's something I don't have any control over. I can (mostly) control what I hear (thanks to "no chatter" channels), but that's more so I can actually hear what the FC is saying. I can't control what anybody says. It's also really not an appropriate place to bring up objections about what people are saying.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

There's a distinct difference between being personally offended at the use of a word and having your sensibilities offended. If you call me a *** I might (as a bisexual man) be personally offended. If you call me a ****** I'd be, as a white person, offended in a more ideological sense.

Hah you got to be kidding me here, so you're all real life scammers and general mean boys, carries the same meaning, hurts the person invested his time the same wether it was real life or in a game.

Given the number of people sent to Australia for crimes in England, during the colonization for bestiality that is obviously a racist slur.

And a good one at that Lol

and that is in fact why the above comment is a compliment in Australia.

So conclusion: it's personal. But should the person be banned or punished for saying it without knowing wether it's a personal issue or not? IMO it's down to the person with the personal issue, to sort out his issues. OVER AND OUT.

I disagree

The environment does not alter the value of the speech act. If anything, it reinforces it since it has now spread to a new venue of interaction.

Quote:

No. I just react properly. The only one overreacting here is the OP, who is getting ridiculously upset over having to follow the rules of the game.

Quote:

Those comms are not subject to CCP's rules and goons are no paragons of social equality. Just because they do it doesn't mean it's worthy of emulation.
